To change HDMI Deep Color on an LG OLED TV, press Settings on the remote, open All Settings, and follow the menu path for your TV’s webOS generation. Select the HDMI port your device is connected to, then turn the setting on or off. If you mean device power or input control, use SIMPLINK (HDMI-CEC) instead; it is a separate setting.

Change HDMI Deep Color for the connected port

LG uses different menu paths across webOS generations. The setting may be called HDMI Deep Color or HDMI Ultra HD Deep Color. LG notes that menus and feature availability can vary by model. LG support instructions provide these generation-based paths:

  • 2026 and later TVs (webOS 26 and later): All Settings > System > External Devices > HDMI Settings > HDMI Deep Color.
  • 2021 and later TVs (webOS 6.0 and later): All Settings > General > External Devices > HDMI Settings > HDMI Deep Color.
  • 2020 and earlier TVs (webOS 5.0 and earlier): All Settings > Picture > Additional Settings > HDMI Ultra HD Deep Color.
  1. Press Settings on the remote and open All Settings.
  2. Choose the path that matches your TV’s webOS generation.
  3. Select the HDMI port that the source device actually uses.
  4. Change HDMI Deep Color for that port. If you cannot find the option or the path differs, consult the manual for your exact TV model.

What HDMI Deep Color does—and when to turn it off

HDMI Deep Color is a signal-format setting for an HDMI input, not a universal picture-enhancement switch. LG says a compatible connected device may produce a clearer picture with Deep Color enabled; an incompatible device may not work properly. LG’s OLED B3 manual advises turning it off if the source is incompatible or the connection has a problem. LG OLED55B3PSA manual

Enable it for the port connected to a source that supports the feature. If enabling it causes a blank screen, connection error, or other compatibility issue, return to that port’s HDMI Deep Color setting and turn it off.

Troubleshoot a missing 4K picture

For the 4K issue covered in its support guidance, LG recommends checking the cable, enabling Ultra HD Deep Color on the connected port, and verifying the source’s output resolution. These checks apply to that 4K troubleshooting scenario; they do not mean every LG OLED or every HDMI connection requires a particular cable.

  • Check the cable: LG’s article says to check that the HDMI cable is version 2.0 or higher for the cited 4K case.
  • Check the port setting: Enable HDMI Deep Color or Ultra HD Deep Color for the input the source uses.
  • Check the source output: If 4K still does not appear, LG says to verify that the device is set to output 2160p (60fps).

LG’s TV documentation also recommends a certified HDMI cable and warns that an uncertified cable can cause no display or a connection error. A new cable is not required just to change a TV setting; consider one only if the existing cable is incompatible or appears faulty. LG 4K troubleshooting guidance
