To find a lost Samsung Galaxy tablet, sign in to Samsung Find or SmartThings Find with the Samsung account already linked to it, then select the tablet. A current location generally requires the tablet to be powered on and connected to a stable network; if it is off, Samsung says the service may show only its last known location. If theft is possible, do not go to the mapped location—contact the authorities.
Locate the tablet with Samsung Find
- On another phone, tablet, or computer, open Samsung Find or SmartThings Find and sign in with the Samsung account used on the missing tablet.
- Choose the tablet from the device list. Review the map and any status or timestamp shown; a displayed location may not be current.
- If you think the tablet is nearby, use an available ring or location control. If you need updates while it may be moving, Samsung describes a Track location function that sends updates every 15 minutes. The control and its availability can vary by device and service interface.
Samsung says the tablet must be associated with a Samsung account and have remote controls enabled. For a current location, it generally needs to be on and connected to a stable network. Samsung’s current US guide names settings such as “Allow this phone (or tablet) to be found,” “Send last location,” and “Offline finding.” Menu names and availability can differ by Galaxy Tab model, software version, account setup, and region.
What an offline or powered-off result means
Samsung’s Offline Finding feature can help locate supported Galaxy devices that are not connected to a network. According to SmartThings Support, nearby participating Galaxy devices can detect a supported missing device over Bluetooth and report its last known location. This depends on the feature being set up beforehand, compatible device and settings, and participating devices being nearby; it does not guarantee a live or precise location.
A powered-off tablet is different from one that is merely disconnected from Wi-Fi or mobile data. Samsung says that when the tablet is off, only its last known location may be available. An account by itself does not guarantee that a current map location can be retrieved.

Choose between Samsung Find and Google Find Hub
Samsung’s service is the natural first option when the tablet is associated with a Samsung account. Google’s separate Find Hub can find, secure, or erase eligible Android devices using the Google account and setup configured on the tablet. Google describes encrypted recent locations and a crowdsourced network of Android devices. Check that the tablet appears in the relevant account before relying on either service.

The services have different account and feature requirements. Neither should be treated as universally more accurate or reliable; what is available depends on the tablet’s model, configuration, and connection status.

Lock the tablet or erase its data
Lock it first when recovery is still possible
Samsung’s remote lock flow can lock the tablet with a PIN and lets you add an optional lock-screen message and emergency contact. Use this if you want to protect access while leaving open the possibility of recovering the device.

Samsung supports remote erasure and recommends backing up before a reset. Erasing removes local data and can affect recovery, so use it when protecting the information matters more than keeping the device available to locate. If a Google account was registered on the tablet, Google device protection may require that account to unlock the reset device.

If remote erasure does not work, Samsung recommends changing passwords for accounts that may be signed in on the tablet. Samsung also says changing the Samsung account password logs devices using that account out.

Do not travel to the location shown on the map or confront anyone. Samsung’s guidance is to inform the authorities and let them retrieve the device. A map point is not a safe invitation to investigate in person.
