Check the lot where the drone was last used and the owning Sim’s personal inventory. If it was sent out to record, return to that area and look nearby: players have reported drones failing to return, disappearing during use, or being left behind when a Sim travels. There is no guaranteed recovery method in the available guidance, but the steps below cover the most likely places to check and what to try if you can see the drone.
Where to look first
- Pause and search the active lot. Inspect the spot where the drone was last used, including nearby ground and surrounding areas where it may have landed.
- Check the owning Sim’s personal inventory. The drone may have returned there even if it is no longer visible in the world.
- Revisit the lot where it was sent to record. Look around the place it was launched from and the surrounding area. EA Forums players have described drones that did not return after recording or were left behind when travelling home; these are individual reports, not proof that this happens in every game. EA Forums: “Problems with Lost Drones?”
If you can see the drone
Click it to see which interactions are available. If it is accessible in the world, try having the Sim who owns it drag it into their personal inventory. This is a community-suggested workaround, not an official guarantee: an EA Forums reply says it may fail if the drone has become disconnected from its owner. EA Forums: “Drone Glitch Sims 4”

Report a persistent problem to EA

Consider an earlier save carefully
If you want to restore a save from before the drone disappeared, make a backup of your current save first, then follow EA’s past-saved-game recovery guidance linked from its Sims 4 support page. Restoring an earlier save can also undo other progress made since that save.

The forum discussions identify the drone as an item from The Sims 4: Get Famous, but buying the expansion is not a recovery method for a drone already lost in a save. The cited sources do not confirm a universal drone tracker or recall feature, and they do not establish a guaranteed way to recover an object that has vanished.
