To save contacts to a SIM card on a Samsung Galaxy, open the Contacts app and use its export option to choose the SIM, select contacts, and confirm. The exact menu depends on your One UI version, model, and region. SIM export is a limited copy, not a complete backup: extra contact details may be lost or shortened.

Export contacts to a SIM on newer Galaxy phones

For One UI 7.0 and newer, Samsung’s current instructions use the Contacts app’s settings. Menu labels can vary, so follow the closest matching options displayed on your phone. Samsung’s Colombia support page, updated 26 February 2026, documents this route for its market: Samsung Colombia’s import and export instructions.

  1. Open Contacts.
  2. Tap More options (the three-dot icon), then Settings.
  3. Tap Export contacts and choose the SIM card as the destination.
  4. Select the contacts to export and confirm. Depending on the screen, you may need to tap Done, Export, or confirm the destination.

A Samsung France support example describes SIM export on a Galaxy S24 FE running One UI 8.0 and Android 16. Its sequence is Contacts > More options > Settings > Export contacts, followed by choosing the SIM, selecting contacts, and confirming the export. That example shows the option on that particular device and regional setup; it does not establish that every Galaxy exposes it. See Samsung France’s One UI 8.0 example.

Use the older menu path if Settings has no export option

On some older One UI versions, the export control is under contact management instead. Samsung’s Hong Kong English support page, updated 12 February 2026, gives this route:

Know what a SIM export keeps—and what it can lose

A SIM is suitable for a basic contact copy, not a full contact-book backup. Samsung warns that a contact’s name and phone number may be copied while other information is lost; long names or numbers may be cut off. Samsung does not give a numeric contact-capacity figure in the cited guidance, but says SIM storage is limited. See Samsung’s SIM export warning and Samsung France’s SIM and transfer guidance.

Check that you are exporting, not moving

Read the action shown before confirming. Export or copy leaves contacts in their original location as well as on the SIM; a Move action can remove them from the original location. The distinction is also reflected in Samsung Russia’s contact-transfer guidance. If you are unsure which action the phone will perform, cancel and choose the clearly labeled export option.
