To run an exported WebGL portfolio locally, first inspect its files and follow the project’s own setup instructions. A simple site using native JavaScript modules may need only a local HTTP server; a framework project such as Next.js needs its specified runtime, package manager, and dependencies. Don’t assume that double-clicking index.html will work, or that an export is independent of its generator just because it runs on your computer.
What to check before running an export
The title doesn’t identify a generator or a particular downloaded project, so there is no single export button or universal run command to give. Use the generator’s documented export option, such as a ZIP download or repository link if available. VULK, for example, says it offers full-source export to GitHub or ZIP; that is a vendor description, not independent verification of what a particular archive contains. VULK’s portfolio generator
After downloading and extracting the project, inspect its top-level files and README before installing anything. Find the entry point, assets, package manifest and lockfile, if present, and the documented scripts. The lockfile can help identify the intended package manager. Don’t substitute a guessed command for the project’s own instructions.
- Static site: Often includes an
index.html, JavaScript modules, stylesheets and assets. - Framework app: Often includes a package manifest and a source directory, with development or build commands documented in the README.
- Dependencies: Check whether the project loads libraries from a CDN or calls remote services, and whether it expects environment variables, authentication or an account.
- Assets: Check whether images, models, fonts and other media are included locally or still referenced from elsewhere.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
python -m http.server 3000
Alternatively, the same README gives:
npx -y serve .
Then open http://localhost:3000 in a browser. These are instructions for that example project, not guaranteed commands for every export. The README warns that opening its page directly as a file:// URL fails because browser CORS restrictions prevent its ES modules from loading correctly. If the page does not open at the expected address, check the server’s terminal output and use the port it reports.
Run a framework project using its own instructions
A framework export has different prerequisites from a static site. For example, the Foliofarer repository specifies Node.js 20.9 or newer and pnpm, and documents this development workflow:

- 5-in-1 USB-C Hub: Experience comprehensive connectivity featuring a Power Delivery input, two USB-A 2.0 ports, a USB-A 3.0 port, and an HDMI port. (Note: The USB-C power delivery input port is only for connecting an external wall charger to power your laptop and cannot power peripheral devices.)
- 90W Pass-Through Charging: Achieve optimal charging with 90W pass-through power to your laptop, supported by a total input of 100W, with the hub reserving 10W for operational efficiency. (Note: Wall charger not included.)
- Quick Data Transfers: Accelerate your productivity with rapid data transfers using a high-speed 5Gbps USB 3.0 port and two 480Mbps USB 2.0 ports.
- 4K HDMI Display: Enhance your visual experience with a hub capable of delivering 4K resolution at 30Hz in both mirror and extend modes. Please note that this hub is compatible with MacBook (macOS 12 and newer), Windows 10 and 11, ChromeOS, and laptops equipped with DP Alt Mode and Power Delivery. Note: This device is not compatible with Linux.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
- Install the Node.js version and pnpm version required by the project.
- In the project directory, install its dependencies with
pnpm install. - Start its development server with
pnpm dev. - Open
http://localhost:3000if the server reports that address.
Those version requirements and commands describe Foliofarer only; another export may use a different framework, runtime, package manager or script. Foliofarer’s README says that example needs no environment file or required secrets, but do not assume the same for another project. Read its README and inspect its scripts before running it.
Verify that the local project works and is editable
A successful start confirms only that the project ran in your current environment. Check the parts that matter to you rather than treating a rendered page as proof that the export is complete or self-contained.

- Fast and Reliable 85W Charging: Offers high-capacity, speedy charging for laptops up to 85W, so you spend less time tethered to an outlet and more time being productive.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
- Confirm that the WebGL scene initializes and that navigation and interactions work.
- Look for missing models, textures, fonts or other assets, and check whether their URLs point to a remote host.
- Inspect the project for external CDN imports, vendor API calls, login requirements and environment-variable dependencies.
- Change a piece of content or a style in the local source, then reload or rebuild to confirm the edit appears.
If something is missing, consult the project’s console and terminal errors. A failed remote request may indicate a service or CDN dependency; a missing local file may point to an incomplete path or asset reference. The actual cause depends on the exported project.
Distinguish local development from deployment
A local development server is for inspecting and editing the project. Publishing it may require a production build, a static host, or a framework-compatible runtime. Check the project’s build instructions and verify which assets and services production still depends on. Also review applicable asset licenses and generator terms before reusing media or deploying the result.

- Independence: Can it run without a generator account, proprietary runtime or remote API? Does it rely on CDNs?
- Editability: Are content and scene settings easy to locate, and do local changes survive the documented build?
- Portability and rights: Does the project’s actual deployment workflow support your target host, and do relevant service terms and asset licenses permit your intended use?
VULK describes prompt-based 3D portfolio creation and source export, but its product-page claims do not establish the contents, account requirements or licensing of an unspecified reader’s export. Its July 2026 figures—3.0% of 11,355 apps categorized as portfolios and a median 47 seconds to a first working project—are vendor-reported platform metrics, not industry-wide statistics or independent benchmarks.
