To turn on Low Power Mode automatically when your iPhone battery drops, create a personal automation in Shortcuts: use the Battery Level trigger, choose Falls Below, set a percentage, then add the Low Power Mode action and configure the automation to run automatically. On supported iPhones, Apple’s Adaptive Power feature is a built-in alternative that can turn on Low Power Mode at 20%.

Use Shortcuts to choose your own battery threshold

A Battery Level personal automation is the right option if you want Low Power Mode to start at a percentage you choose. Apple’s Shortcuts guide explains how to create an automation and add actions; its Battery Level trigger offers Equals, Rises Above, and Falls Below. For a low-battery trigger, choose Falls Below. Apple’s personal automation instructions and Battery Level trigger details describe these controls.

  1. Open Shortcuts and start an automation. Tap Automation, then tap the control to create a new personal automation. Follow the on-screen creation flow if your version presents an initial setup screen.
  2. Choose the battery trigger. Select Battery Level, choose Falls Below, and set the percentage at which you want the automation to run.
  3. Add the Low Power Mode action. Add the action that controls Low Power Mode and configure it to turn the mode on.
  4. Set it to run automatically. In the automation editor, choose the automatic-run option rather than requiring confirmation. If the action itself presents an option to run automatically, enable that too; Apple’s guidance notes some actions may need their own automatic-run setting. Save the automation.

Apple also documents Low Power Mode as a separate Shortcuts trigger, with Is Turned On and Is Turned Off choices. That trigger responds to a change in Low Power Mode; it is not a substitute for Battery Level when the goal is to react to a battery percentage. See Apple’s trigger documentation.

Use Adaptive Power for Apple’s built-in 20% behavior

If your iPhone supports Adaptive Power and you do not need to choose a different threshold, enable it in Settings > Battery > Power Mode > Adaptive Power. Apple’s iOS 26 guide says Adaptive Power can turn on Low Power Mode when the battery reaches 20%. The setting is available only on supported models, so check Apple’s current Adaptive Power availability and feature details for your iPhone and software version. Apple says Adaptive Power needs at least seven days to learn charging habits before it engages.

Yojaro 4Pack Silicone Suction Phone Case Mount, Silicon Adhesive Smartphones Stand Sticky, Hands-Free Phone Accessories Holder for Selfies and Videos (Black & White & Translucent & Light Pink)
  • 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
  • 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
  • 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
  • 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
  • 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)

Adaptive Power and a Shortcuts automation serve different needs: Adaptive Power provides Apple’s documented 20% behavior on supported devices, while Shortcuts lets you set a Battery Level threshold yourself. Apple does not document a user-selected Adaptive Power threshold.

Choose a threshold with Low Power Mode’s trade-offs in mind

Low Power Mode reduces power use by changing or pausing selected behaviors. Apple’s Low Power Mode guidance says it reduces display brightness, sets Auto-Lock to 30 seconds by default, turns off some visual effects, temporarily pauses iCloud Photos, turns off automatic downloads and email fetch, and turns off Background App Refresh. On ProMotion models, the display refresh rate is limited to 60 frames per second, and some tasks may run more slowly.

Apple EarPods Headphones with USB-C Plug, Wired Ear Buds with Built-in Remote to Control Music, Phone Calls, and Volume
  • SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
  • HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
  • BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
  • COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
  • INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.

Choose a trigger percentage that balances those changes against how much battery reserve you want. A higher threshold activates the reduced-power behavior earlier; a lower threshold preserves normal behavior longer but leaves less charge before it starts.

Check Low Power Mode and account for charging behavior

You can check or turn on Low Power Mode manually if needed. The Settings path depends on the iPhone model: on iPhone 15 and later, go to Settings > Battery > Power Mode > Low Power Mode; on iPhone 14 and earlier, go to Settings > Battery > Low Power Mode. Apple says Low Power Mode automatically turns off when iPhone charges to 80% or higher. If you want it on again after charging, your battery-level automation can activate when the charge later falls below its selected threshold.
