You can also paste the map URL into an Embed block, but WordPress only accepts URLs from services it supports, and the reviewed WordPress documentation does not specifically confirm Bing Maps support.
Choose the right WordPress method

How to add a Bing map with the Embed block
- Open the WordPress page or post where the map should appear.
- Insert an Embed block.
- Paste the Bing Maps URL and submit it.
- Check the editor preview. If WordPress converts the URL into a map, save or publish the page and test the published version.
If WordPress leaves the URL as text, reports that the content cannot be embedded, or shows no map preview, use the Custom HTML route instead. Do not assume that changing the URL format will make an unsupported provider work.
How to add Bing’s iframe code with Custom HTML
1. Obtain valid provider markup
Use Bing Maps’ current share or embed controls if they are available for the map you want to publish. The exact menu labels and steps can change, and not every map is documented as offering a ready-made iframe. Do not invent an iframe URL or substitute a screenshot for interactive map code.
2. Insert the code in WordPress
- Edit the target page or post.
- Add a Custom HTML block at the location where the map should appear.
- Paste the complete provider-supplied iframe markup into the block.
- Use the block preview, then save or publish the page.
- Open the public page in a separate browser window and verify that the map loads, can be used, and has practical dimensions on both a desktop and a phone.
The Custom HTML block is intended for raw HTML in post or page content. Keep the code supplied by Bing intact unless you understand exactly which attributes you are changing.

Why the iframe disappears after saving
WordPress.com plan or hosting features
On WordPress.com, iframe tags require a paid plan with the relevant hosting features activated. If the editor removes the iframe when you save, review the site’s plan and hosting-feature status before editing the code.
WordPress.org capability and sanitization
On a self-hosted WordPress.org site, WordPress can sanitize HTML for a user who does not have the unfiltered_html capability. Sanitization may remove tags such as <iframe>. Have an administrator with the required capability add the block, or ask the site administrator to adjust the appropriate role and security policy.

Other causes
- Confirm that the entire iframe was pasted, including its opening and closing tags.
- Check whether a security, caching, or content-filtering plugin is stripping iframe HTML.
- Make sure you are testing the published page, not only the editor canvas.
- If the provider code loads on desktop but not on a phone, inspect its width and height attributes and the surrounding theme layout rather than assuming the iframe is responsive.
WordPress.com and self-hosted WordPress are different
WordPress.com controls iframe availability through the account plan and activated hosting features. A self-hosted WordPress.org installation instead depends on the logged-in user’s capabilities and any site-level security or filtering rules. The same Bing markup can therefore work for an administrator on one site and be removed for another user or account.
Make the map usable after it loads
- Give the map enough height to show its controls and location clearly.
- Check the page at a narrow mobile width; fixed desktop dimensions can cause clipping or horizontal scrolling.
- Test the public URL while logged out, because editor previews can differ from what visitors receive.
- Provide a normal text address or directions link near the map so visitors still have the location if the embed is blocked.
What Microsoft’s documentation establishes
Microsoft documents Bing Maps content as embeddable in at least some Microsoft publishing contexts, including SharePoint. That demonstrates that Bing Maps can supply embeddable content in supported environments, but it does not guarantee that a particular Bing map URL or WordPress account will work. Microsoft’s support material on custom map URLs points readers toward MSDN rather than documenting a current WordPress-specific embed workflow, so Bing’s live interface should be treated as the authority for the code it currently generates.

Start with an Embed block and the Bing map URL. If WordPress does not recognize it, use Bing-provided iframe markup in a Custom HTML block—provided your WordPress.com plan or WordPress.org permissions allow iframe HTML—and verify the published map on desktop and mobile.
