To download Apple Music songs in lossless quality, turn on Lossless Audio and set the download quality in your device’s Apple Music settings, add the music to your library, then download it. Music already downloaded before you enabled Lossless must be deleted and downloaded again. Lossless availability can vary by country or region.
Download Lossless songs on iPhone or iPad

Open the Apple Music app and find the song, album, or playlist. Add it to your library.

Tap Download to save it for offline listening.

In the Music app, open its settings and select Playback.

Turn on the Lossless option and choose a separate download quality in the download-quality selector.

Find the catalogue music you want, add it to your library, and use its Download control.

Redownload music you already saved
Changing the Lossless setting does not convert an existing local download. Delete the downloaded copy, make sure Lossless Audio and the desired download quality are enabled, then download the catalogue item again. Apple’s instructions for managing Lossless and downloads are in its Lossless audio guide.
Choose a quality that fits your storage and playback setup
Apple describes its Apple Music ALAC catalogue as ranging from 16-bit/44.1 kHz to 24-bit/192 kHz. Its guide distinguishes standard Lossless, up to 24-bit/48 kHz, from Hi-Res Lossless, up to 24-bit/192 kHz. Higher-resolution choices use more data, and Lossless downloads take significantly more device storage than lower-quality downloads. Apple does not publish a universal per-song or per-album download size, so the space required varies.

For playback, Apple states that “Bluetooth connections aren’t lossless.” To hear a Lossless signal, use a wired connection to compatible headphones, a receiver, or powered speakers. On iPhone and some other devices, playback above 48 kHz requires an external digital-to-analog converter (DAC). A DAC is not required just to download Lossless music or listen offline; it matters only if your device and setup need one for the resolution you want. See Apple’s device and playback guidance.
Check availability before troubleshooting
Lossless is available for supported Apple Music catalogue music, but Apple notes that music availability can vary by country or region. If a particular item does not offer the quality you selected, the setting cannot make an unavailable Lossless version appear.
