To show album art during a YouTube music livestream, make the artwork part of the outgoing video scene and send that scene, along with the music, through a live-streaming encoder. The visual setup is only half the job: before broadcasting Indian songs, confirm you have permission for both each sound recording and its underlying music and lyrics, and ask the relevant rights owner to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. A licence alone may not stop YouTube from interrupting a stream.
What you need before you start
A 24/7 stream combines a continuous audio source with a video feed. For an album-art stream, the artwork supplies the visual while the music plays. YouTube for Artists says encoders offer more customization and control than a basic mobile or webcam stream, but its guidance does not prescribe a particular album-art application or encoder. See YouTube for Artists for its live-streaming guidance.
- Album artwork or another visual you are entitled to use.
- A live-stream production setup that can combine the visual and music into an outgoing video feed. An encoder-capable computer is one possible route, but no specific product is required by the guidance cited here.
- A YouTube channel set up to livestream and its stream key, handled privately.
- Documented permission for every recording and underlying musical and literary work in the playlist, including the planned online live use and intended territories.
- A plan for monitoring and restoring the broadcast if the production setup, connection, or YouTube stream stops.
Clear rights for every song before going live
Do not assume that owning an album, buying a download, or having permission to use one recording automatically covers livestreaming it. Make a track-by-track record identifying the sound recording and the underlying composition and lyrics, the relevant rights owners or authorized representatives, and what each permission covers. Confirm online live streaming in the territories you intend to reach, and whether it also covers an archived replay.

YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If it identifies a match, it may replace the stream with a placeholder image, warn you, or interrupt or terminate the stream if the content remains. If you archive the livestream, a Content ID claim may be made after the stream ends. A live interruption, an archive claim, a copyright strike, and a contractual dispute are different outcomes; none should be treated as interchangeable with another. Read YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.

Ask about Content ID allowlisting
If a rights owner has licensed the content for your stream, ask that owner to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. YouTube’s instruction is: “If you’ve licensed third-party content to use in your stream, ask the owner of the content to add your channel to their allowlist through Content ID.” A licence that has not been coordinated with the relevant owner’s allowlist process may still leave the stream vulnerable to interruption.
Indian music rights need a catalog-specific answer
India’s Copyright Act defines “communication to the public” broadly, including making a work available to be heard or enjoyed by the public, and defines broadcast to include communication by wireless diffusion or wire. Those definitions explain why making music publicly available is a rights question; they do not identify the owners of a particular song or establish which permissions a particular YouTube channel needs. The Copyright Rules include procedures for statutory broadcast licensing under section 31D, including notice and royalty provisions, but their existence alone does not establish that a given YouTube livestream is covered or that all relevant rights are cleared. For a specific catalog, consult the rights owners and an India-qualified music-rights professional. See the Copyright Rules and Copyright Act.

Build the album-art livestream
- Prepare the visual. Choose artwork you are entitled to use. Arrange it as the visual scene in your production setup so it appears in the outgoing video feed. The artwork is not a substitute for a video source: YouTube must receive a live video stream that includes the image.
- Set up the audio and video in an encoder. Use a live-production workflow that combines the music with the album-art scene. YouTube for Artists describes an encoder as an option for more customization and control; it does not endorse a particular device, application, resolution, bitrate, or album-art procedure. Choose settings supported by your encoder and connection rather than relying on unsupported universal values.
- Create or open the YouTube livestream. In YouTube Studio, configure the livestream and connect the encoder using the stream key provided for that broadcast. Keep the key private: anyone who obtains it may be able to send video to your stream. YouTube’s encoder-based workflow is described in its live-streaming guidance.
- Check the complete output. Confirm that the artwork is visible and the music is audible in the YouTube preview. Check that the correct playlist is queued and that the stream is not using unlicensed tracks.
- Test before a public launch. YouTube for Artists recommends testing with an unlisted stream before a high-investment event. Use that test to verify the visual, audio, and end-to-end connection, then make the planned stream public only when ready.
- Monitor and plan recovery. A long-running stream needs someone or a system able to notice a stopped feed and restore it. The cited YouTube guidance does not specify a 24/7 uptime, recovery, power, or network design, so test the setup you choose and do not promise uninterrupted availability.
Keep a 24/7 stream operating
A static artwork image can remain on screen while songs play, but that does not itself keep the broadcast alive. A do-it-yourself encoder setup depends on the equipment, software, power, and connection used to produce and send the feed. Decide who will monitor it, how they will identify an interruption, and how they will restart the encoder and reconnect to the YouTube broadcast. Test that recovery path before relying on it for an extended run.

For a YouTube stream built from uploaded recordings rather than a live camera, StreamNeo is a cloud option: upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It loops the uploaded videos from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. It plays the videos as uploaded, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; it automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly is $9.99 per month. It streams to YouTube only and does not clear music rights, so obtain permissions and coordinate Content ID allowlisting separately. Start the free day with StreamNeo.
