To disable Kaspersky temporarily, use the controls for your installed product: the documented Windows version offers a timed pause, while the cited Mac versions use turn-off and turn-on controls. Choose the shortest pause that works, then restore protection as soon as you finish. Menu names and behavior vary by operating system, edition, and version.
Before you pause Kaspersky
Disabling protection can leave your computer more exposed. Kaspersky warns that disabling protection or its components may lead to infection and data loss. Avoid untrusted websites and downloads while protection is off, and turn it back on as soon as the task is complete.
Pausing is not the same as uninstalling Kaspersky. In the Windows 21.5 help, pausing temporarily disables protection components. The guide says application activity is monitored while protection is paused or Kaspersky is not running, and saved monitoring information is used when the application starts or protection resumes; that does not mean protection components remain active during the pause.
Pause Kaspersky on Windows
These steps match Kaspersky’s consumer help for Windows version 21.5. Other releases may use different labels or offer different options.

- Find the Kaspersky icon in the taskbar notification area (system tray). Open its context menu and select Pause protection.
- In the dialog, choose one of the available options: Pause for a time interval, Pause until application restart, or Pause to keep protection off until you resume it manually.
- Select Pause protection and confirm if prompted.
- When you are ready to restore protection—or to end the pause early—open the Kaspersky icon’s context menu and select Resume protection.

Turn Kaspersky protection off and on on Mac
Kaspersky Internet Security for Mac 20.0
- Click the Kaspersky icon in the menu bar and choose Turn Protection Off.
- If prompted, enter an administrator name and password, then confirm.
- To restore protection, open the icon menu and choose Turn Protection On. Alternatively, open Preferences > Protection > General and select Enable protection.
- Check that protection is enabled after turning it back on. The guide says it is not automatically re-enabled when the application starts again.

Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Mac 12.2.1
The business endpoint manual also describes menu-bar and settings controls for disabling and resuming protection. Turning protection off may require administrator credentials, and the manual says it must be re-enabled manually after the application starts again. Endpoint controls and administrator policies may differ from the consumer Mac product; consult the Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Mac 12.2.1 manual.

If the instructions do not match your screen
- Check the product name and version installed on your device; the steps above are specific to the versions named in each section.
- Look for the equivalent pause or protection controls in that product’s help. Do not assume Windows pause durations appear in the Mac interface, or that controls in one Mac product match another.
