You can delete a preloaded app only if your Samsung TV shows a Delete option for it. If the option is missing or disabled, Samsung says some recommended and pre-installed apps cannot be uninstalled. You may still be able to remove an app’s shortcut from the Home screen, but that does not uninstall it. The exact options depend on the TV model, year, region, and software version.
Delete an app when the TV offers the option
On supported models, Samsung’s US instructions use this menu path:
- Press Home on the remote.
- Open Apps.
- Open App Settings.
- Select the app you want to uninstall.
- Choose Delete and confirm if prompted.
Menu labels or locations can vary. Deleting an app can also remove its associated data, according to Samsung India’s uninstall guidance. Make sure you know the app’s sign-in details if you might reinstall it.
Remove an app from Home without uninstalling it
If you only want to declutter the Home screen, highlight the app there, press and hold Select, then choose Remove and confirm. This removes the shortcut; it does not delete the app from the TV. Samsung’s US guidance says recommended apps cannot be deleted but can be removed from Home: Samsung: Manage apps on your Samsung TV or projector.

Why Delete may be unavailable
If Delete is absent or grayed out, the app may be a recommended or pre-installed default app. Samsung’s US and India support pages say these categories may not be uninstallable. Samsung UK likewise cautions that some preloaded apps cannot be removed: Samsung UK: Install and manage apps.
There is no general supported setting established in Samsung’s guidance that makes every factory-installed app removable. Check the app’s menu for an available Remove option if your aim is to hide its shortcut. To confirm what your particular TV supports, find the model number and consult its manual or Samsung’s model-specific support; the instructions and options can differ by model and software.

If an app is malfunctioning
Troubleshooting is different from removing an unwanted app. Samsung’s app troubleshooting guidance recommends trying a cold boot and checking for a TV software update. If Delete is grayed out because the app is recommended, Samsung says to select Reinstall instead. Reinstalling is intended to address an app problem; it does not remove the app. See Samsung’s app troubleshooting steps.

A Smart Hub reset is not a way to selectively uninstall one locked app. Samsung says it resets Smart Hub settings and affects downloaded apps and account sign-ins; setup may be needed afterward, and apps may need to be downloaded again. Collect your account credentials before proceeding.

Samsung’s US instructions give these paths, which vary by TV year:
- 2018 and earlier: Settings > Support > Self Diagnosis > Reset Smart Hub.
- 2019 and later: Settings > Support > Device Care > Self Diagnosis > Reset Smart Hub.
The TV may ask for its PIN. Samsung lists 0000 as the default unless it has been changed. Follow the instructions for your model in Samsung’s Smart Hub reset guide.

Choose the right action

Use another streaming interface if you prefer
A streaming device connected by HDMI can provide a separate app interface without changing the TV’s built-in apps. Samsung names Roku, Amazon Fire TV Stick, and Google Chromecast as examples. Check that your TV has an available HDMI port and that the device supports the services you want. This is optional and does not uninstall or disable preloaded Samsung TV apps.
