Adobe’s documented desktop instructions for deleting PDF pages apply to Acrobat, but do not confirm that the feature is available in free desktop Acrobat Reader. If your version of Reader does not offer page organization, use Acrobat on the web or a supported mobile app instead. On desktop Acrobat, the path is All tools > Organize pages.
Delete pages in Acrobat on a desktop computer
Adobe’s desktop guide, updated November 5, 2025, documents this workflow for Acrobat—not specifically for free Acrobat Reader. Menu availability can depend on your product version and plan, so do not assume these controls will appear in every Reader installation. Adobe’s instructions are at Delete pages in PDFs with Acrobat on desktop.
- Check the PDF’s permissions: Open it and select File > Document Properties > Security. Review the restrictions before trying to edit.
- Open the page organizer: Choose All tools > Organize pages.
- Select pages to remove: Hover over a page thumbnail and select Delete to remove one page. To select multiple pages, enter page numbers or a range in the Pages Selected field, such as
2, 4or6–8. - Confirm and save: Select Delete pages, confirm with OK, then save the PDF. At least one page must remain; Acrobat does not allow deleting every page.
Delete pages in Acrobat on the web
Use this route if the web workflow suits you and uploading the document to Adobe cloud storage is acceptable. Adobe’s instructions, updated April 1, 2026, document the steps but do not specify plan eligibility. See organize PDF pages in Acrobat on the web.

Delete pages in the Acrobat mobile app
Adobe states that deleting pages in its mobile app requires an Acrobat subscription. The instructions below are from Adobe’s mobile help, updated August 18, 2026: Organize pages in PDFs with Acrobat on mobile.

Keep selected pages in a new PDF and remove them from the original
If you want a separate PDF containing selected pages, rather than simply deleting them, use Acrobat desktop’s Extract pages workflow and select Delete pages after extracting. Save the new document when prompted. Adobe says extraction retains page content, form fields, comments, and links, but does not carry over associated bookmarks or article threads. See Extract pages from a PDF with Acrobat.
