To customize Streamlabs Desktop’s editor panels, open Editor > Layout Editor, choose an existing layout tab or create a new one, arrange the components, and select Save Changes. You can resize sections by dragging their edges. This changes the arrangement of the app’s controls—not the scenes or graphics your viewers see.
Customize and save your editor layout
- Open Layout Editor. In Streamlabs Desktop, expand Editor in the left navigation and select Layout Editor.
- Choose or create a layout tab. Select the tab you want to edit from the selector at the top. To create a separate layout, select Add Tab, enter a name, then select Save New Tab.
- Choose a layout style and arrange components. Select a style from the Layout choices on the left, then drag the displayed components into the positions you prefer. You can leave positions empty if you want a more minimal editor.
- Save the arrangement. Select Save Changes in the upper-right. Streamlabs’ guide says the app returns to the saved layout.
- Resize sections if needed. Hover over a section’s edge and drag it to adjust its dimensions.
These control names and steps follow Streamlabs’ guide, last updated December 19, 2025. If your installed version places a control differently or uses another label, follow the equivalent Layout Editor controls shown in your version rather than assuming the interface is identical. Know what Layout Editor does—and what it does not
Layout Editor changes where Streamlabs Desktop places its own components and how much information is visible to you while operating the app. It does not rearrange the elements in your broadcast. Keep these workflows separate:
- Editor panels: Use Layout Editor to organize the app’s components.
- Scene composition: Use the Scenes and Sources panels to organize what a scene contains. Streamlabs describes scenes as holding camera angles and graphics; sources and widgets are items viewers can see or hear. Streamlabs’ Desktop setup guide
- Editing while live: Studio Mode provides an editable scene view separate from the view viewers see, according to Streamlabs’ Desktop tips.
- Widget appearance: Customize a widget’s appearance and behavior in the Streamlabs dashboard, then add it as a source in Desktop. Widget themes can be associated with Scene Collections. Streamlabs’ widget themes guide
Or let it run in the cloud
