For an ordinary organic LinkedIn carousel, export your slides as a multipage PDF, publish it as a Document post, and schedule that post in LinkedIn or a third-party publisher that supports PDF documents. Personal profiles and Pages have different native scheduling windows. LinkedIn’s developer “Carousel” API, meanwhile, is for sponsored carousel posts—not the usual organic PDF workflow.
What LinkedIn calls a carousel
Creators commonly call a swipeable PDF a LinkedIn carousel. In LinkedIn’s publishing flow, the organic format is a Document post with a PDF attached. LinkedIn’s developer documentation uses “Carousel” for a different, sponsored format. An organic document post and a sponsored carousel ad are not interchangeable workflows.
For the organic format, prepare a multipage PDF, attach it to a Document post, add a document title and caption, then publish now or schedule it. HubSpot’s instructions say the first PDF page is used as the post image and that the composer does not let you remove or customize that document image. HubSpot’s LinkedIn document-post instructions describe this flow.
Create the carousel PDF
- Plan a sequence. Give the document a clear opening page, one main idea per page, and a useful ending. These are editorial choices, not LinkedIn requirements established by the cited platform instructions.
- Build and export. Use a presentation, design, or document editor and export the pages as one multipage PDF. The reviewed platform guidance does not prescribe a particular editor, page dimensions, slide count, or design system.
- Check the exported file. Open the PDF and confirm that page order, text, links, and visual elements appear as intended. Make sure the first page works as the document’s displayed post image.
Keep the caption focused on what a reader will get from opening the document. A short invitation to swipe or save can make the format clear, but it is your editorial choice rather than a platform requirement.
Publish or schedule it natively
Personal profile
LinkedIn’s personal-profile Help page says scheduled posts can be set from 10 minutes to three months ahead. In the post composer, use the clock icon to choose a time. LinkedIn says scheduling time is standardized in UTC using the device’s time-zone setting; scheduled posts can be viewed, edited, rescheduled, or deleted. The Help page does not specifically confirm that every document attachment can be scheduled, so check the final preview to ensure the PDF remains attached before saving the schedule. LinkedIn Page
A Page super admin or content admin can schedule a Page post from one hour to three months ahead. LinkedIn says the post publishes automatically at the chosen time. Page scheduling instructions exclude events, multiple photos, reshares, polls, jobs, and service posts. For a PDF carousel, choose a Document post and confirm the attachment in the preview. Native publishing steps
- Open the profile or Page composer and start a post.
- Choose the Document post type and attach the multipage PDF.
- Enter a document title and write the caption.
- Preview the post. Confirm the right PDF is attached and the first page displays as expected.
- Publish now, or select the scheduling control and choose a permitted date and time for that account type.
LinkedIn’s Page scheduler and personal-profile scheduler have different minimum lead times. If the post is not eligible for the time you want, check whether you selected the intended account type and whether the date falls inside its scheduling window.
Use a third-party scheduler when it fits your workflow
Some social publishing tools support LinkedIn document posts and scheduled publishing. HubSpot documents a workflow in which you select a LinkedIn account, choose Document, attach a PDF, enter its title, select “Schedule for later,” then review and schedule the post. Its source is marked updated September 11, 2026. HubSpot’s publishing instructions give the product-specific steps.

LinkedIn Marketing Solutions lists Buffer, Hootsuite, Sprout Social, Sprinklr, and Falcon.io among partners offering scheduling features. It says Buffer and Hootsuite support personal profiles and Pages, while Falcon.io integrates with Pages. Treat this as a partner directory, not proof that a particular plan or account can automatically publish your PDF carousel. LinkedIn’s partner page also says it has no built-in scheduler, a statement that conflicts with LinkedIn’s own current Help instructions for native scheduling. Before committing to a recurring calendar, check these points in the specific tool and plan you intend to use:
- Does it support your LinkedIn personal profile, Page, or both?
- Can you attach and schedule a PDF as a Document post, rather than converting the pages into ordinary image media?
- Will the tool publish automatically, or will it send a reminder for manual posting?
- Can you preview the attached document and edit or reschedule a queued post?
- What LinkedIn permissions, tool plan, or account role are required?

Such product documentation is a vendor statement; it does not establish successful delivery for every account type or plan. What developers should know about API automation
Do not treat LinkedIn’s sponsored Carousel API route as the API for organic PDF carousels. LinkedIn’s Posts API describes uploading a document asset for a post and points organic multiple-image posts to the MultiImage API. Its Carousel API documentation says it creates sponsored carousel posts only. The right endpoint and permissions depend on the post type and the access available to your app; check the current documentation before designing an integration.

LinkedIn’s API documentation states that Marketing Version 202510 sunsets on October 15, 2026, and advises migration to a supported version. That date is specific to the documented version; it is not a general expiration date for LinkedIn posting APIs. Review the API version and current access requirements for your application at LinkedIn’s Posts API documentation. The documentation distinguishes organic document publishing from the sponsored Carousel API route.

The PDF is missing from the preview
Return to the composer and attach the PDF as a Document, then inspect the preview again. With a third-party publisher, verify that the selected post type remains Document and has not become a multi-image or ordinary image post.

The first page looks wrong in the post preview
LinkedIn’s document-post guidance says the first page is used as the post image, and HubSpot says that image cannot be removed or customized in the composer. Revise the PDF’s first page in your editor, export again, and replace the attachment before scheduling.
The scheduler will not accept the date
Check whether you are posting as a personal profile or a Page. The stated minimum lead time is 10 minutes for profiles and one hour for Pages; both Help pages give a three-month maximum. Also confirm that the requested time is not outside the account’s allowed window.

LinkedIn excludes events, multiple photos, reshares, polls, jobs, and service posts from its Page scheduling instructions. If your intended format is a PDF carousel, start with a Document post rather than one of those excluded types.

A third-party post is not set to publish automatically
Check the publisher’s current documentation and account settings for automatic publishing versus notification-based reminders, required permissions, and plan restrictions. Confirm the selected LinkedIn account and preview the scheduled attachment before relying on a recurring workflow.
An API integration cannot create an organic carousel
Confirm whether your intended post is an organic PDF Document post or a sponsored carousel ad. The Carousel API route is sponsored-only; organic document publishing follows the document asset path. Also check application permissions and use a currently supported Marketing API version.
Plan around the actual scheduling limits
There is no evidence in the cited platform guidance here for a universal “best time” or guaranteed engagement lift from carousels. Schedule for the date that suits your publishing plan, then use LinkedIn’s available post analytics or your own reporting to assess results. Leave time to inspect the PDF and scheduled preview before a deadline, particularly when a third-party tool handles publication.
