Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsTo queue podcast episodes for YouTube Live, create an ordered playlist in OBS Studio with its VLC Video source, then schedule the broadcast in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. OBS plays and sends the episode files; YouTube creates and hosts the live event. This workflow works in India without a special India-only setting, but the computer running OBS and its internet connection must remain available during the stream.
What you need before you start
- A YouTube channel eligible to livestream. YouTube’s general eligibility guidance says the channel must be verified, have no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days, and the streamer must be at least 16. Check the intended channel before setting up an unattended or scheduled show. YouTube live-streaming eligibility.
- OBS Studio and VLC installed on the computer that will run the broadcast. OBS’s VLC Video source requires VLC and supports a playlist. OBS media-source documentation.
- Podcast episode files stored locally, in the order you want them played. Test each file and encoding in OBS before relying on it for a broadcast.
- Permission to livestream every episode and its included music, clips, and other material. Also decide whether viewers should be able to watch the resulting replay.
The cited YouTube guidance does not establish a separate India-specific queue procedure or a country-specific internet-speed threshold. Schedule using your local time zone, double-check the selected date and time in Studio, and test with the actual computer and connection you plan to use.
Build the episode queue in OBS
1. Organize the files and choose playback behavior
Put the episodes in a dedicated folder and settle the sequence before adding them. Decide whether the queue should play once and stop or repeat continuously. Keep the files in place while the show is running so OBS can access them.
2. Add a VLC Video source
- Open OBS and select the scene you will use for the broadcast.
- In the Sources panel, select + and choose VLC Video Source.
- Create the source, then add the episode files to its playlist in the desired order.
- Leave shuffle off for predictable episode order. Set looping according to whether you want the queue to repeat; OBS documents that VLC Video can loop and that looping is on by default.
- Preview the scene and check both picture and audio. Confirm the first episode starts correctly and that the transition to the next file works.
OBS’s ordinary Media Source is suitable for a single local file and can loop that file; use VLC Video when you need a playlist. OBS lists commonly supported media formats, but compatibility can depend on the specific file and encoding, so test the actual episodes. OBS media-source documentation.

Connect OBS to a scheduled YouTube Live event
3. Create the event and copy its stream settings
- In YouTube Studio, open Create and choose Go live to enter Live Control Room.
- Use the scheduling flow under Manage to create the upcoming event. Confirm its date, time, visibility, and event details.
- In the event’s stream settings, copy the stream URL and stream key into OBS’s stream settings. The stream key is a credential that allows YouTube to accept the encoder feed; keep it private.
- Return to the correct event in Live Control Room before starting the broadcast. YouTube’s encoder setup instructions cover connecting an encoder and scheduling a stream. YouTube encoder setup and scheduling; YouTube stream settings.
If the key is exposed, reset it in Live Control Room and update OBS with the replacement. Do not publish it in a screenshot, chat, or shared document.
4. Test ahead of the scheduled start
YouTube recommends setting up the encoder at least 2 hours before an event and starting it at least 15 minutes before the scheduled time. Use that lead time to confirm YouTube receives the feed and that the right event is selected. YouTube live-streaming tips.

- Check the incoming preview in Live Control Room and listen for clean audio.
- Verify the playlist order, transitions, and whether the final episode stops or the queue loops.
- Check the event’s accessibility and visibility settings.
- Watch the local recording or archive file growth if you are making one, and continue monitoring audio and video during the event.
5. Start the show and monitor it
At the scheduled time, start the OBS encoder and follow the Live Control Room flow, using the preview and go-live control as checkpoints. A local playlist does not make the setup resilient to a computer crash, power loss, or internet interruption. Keep someone available to monitor the broadcast and intervene if needed; YouTube also recommends monitoring audio and video and checking files during an event. YouTube live-streaming tips.
Handle recurring shows and replays
Recurring broadcasts
For a regular series, YouTube’s Live Streaming API can reuse one liveStream resource across multiple scheduled liveBroadcast resources when the same encoder settings are used. The API manages broadcast resources; it does not play the episode files. OBS or another encoder still has to send the media. Implementing the API workflow requires authorization and development work, so Studio scheduling plus an OBS playlist is the more direct route for a creator who simply needs an episode queue. Google YouTube Live Streaming API workflow.

Ending and archiving
YouTube states that streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. If you rely on automatic archiving, keep the intended broadcast below that threshold and check the resulting replay’s visibility and rights. The guidance does not promise automatic archive behavior for streams lasting 12 hours or longer. YouTube encoder guidance.
Common problems and fixes
- The playlist does not advance: Confirm you added the files to a VLC Video source playlist rather than creating a separate single-file Media Source for each episode. Check the playlist order and test transitions in OBS.
- A file has no picture or sound: Confirm VLC is installed and test that specific file in OBS. The fact that a format is commonly supported does not guarantee every encoding will work.
- YouTube does not receive the encoder feed: Check that OBS has the stream URL and current key for the event you opened in Live Control Room. If the key was reset, replace the old key in OBS.
- The wrong event is live or the event is not ready: Return to Live Control Room and verify the selected scheduled event, date, time, and incoming preview before using its go-live flow.
- The stream stops unexpectedly: Check the OBS computer’s power and internet connection, then inspect the encoder and YouTube preview. This local setup has no documented automatic recovery guarantee, so arrange human monitoring and a way to restart it.
- The replay is missing or incomplete: Check the stream’s duration and the resulting archive in YouTube Studio. YouTube’s automatic-archive statement applies to streams under 12 hours; it does not establish that longer streams will be archived automatically.
