To keep Indian classical music playing on YouTube around the clock, enable live streaming on a verified channel, prepare recordings you have the rights to use, and send an audio-and-video feed from an encoder to YouTube Live Control Room. A computer running encoder software is one do-it-yourself route; a dedicated encoder is another. For a stream built from uploaded recordings, a cloud service can keep the feed running without leaving a computer on at home.

Plan for interruptions rather than assuming “always-on” means guaranteed uptime. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content, and a 24/7 feed can still be affected by rights claims, power or network failure, or encoder problems.

What you need before you start

  • A YouTube channel that can go live: YouTube requires channel verification and no live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it well before your intended launch. See YouTube’s live-streaming setup guidance.
  • A rights-cleared music library: Confirm permission for the actual sound recordings and performances, as well as any composition or arrangement rights that apply to your material and territories.
  • An encoder and a stable connection: An encoder sends the audio and video to YouTube using the stream’s server URL and private stream key.
  • A visual for the broadcast: For a prepared music feed, this could be a designed scene or an appropriate static visual. Make sure you have the rights to use it, too.
  • A monitoring and recovery plan: Someone should be able to notice and respond to failures in power, internet, audio, or the encoder.

YouTube describes 24/7 live feeds as an API use case, but that does not guarantee continuous uptime for your channel or equipment. The guide explains how a separate broadcast can be started and completed while a 24/7 feed continues; it is not an uptime commitment. Google’s live-broadcast API guide was last updated September 14, 2026.

Clear music and performance rights first

Do not assume that an old raga, composition, or tradition makes a particular recording free to broadcast. Rights can apply separately to the composition, an arrangement, the sound recording, and the performance. Identify who controls the relevant rights and confirm that your permission covers a continuous YouTube livestream and your intended territories.

YouTube says, “All live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted content in the form of another live broadcast.” A match may cause YouTube to replace the stream with a placeholder, warn you to stop using the material, or interrupt or terminate the stream if the match remains. A license alone may not prevent an automated interruption: for licensed third-party tracks, ask the relevant rights owner, label, or distributor to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. YouTube for Artists likewise recommends coordinating with a label or distributor when using protected music in a livestream. Read YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams and YouTube for Artists’ guidance on going live for music channels.

Keep written permissions and any allowlisting confirmation with your channel records. This is practical guidance, not a territory-specific legal opinion; ask the responsible rights holders or a qualified adviser when the permitted uses are unclear.

Set up the YouTube livestream

  1. Enable live streaming early. Verify the channel, check that it has no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days, and complete first-time activation well ahead of launch. YouTube says activation may take up to 24 hours.
  2. Prepare the music and visuals. Assemble the recordings you are authorized to use and choose a suitable visual. Check both audio and visual rights before making the stream public.
  3. Open Live Control Room. In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live, then create the stream in Live Control Room. Follow YouTube’s current setup prompts if the interface differs.
  4. Copy the connection details into your encoder. Copy the server URL and stream key shown in Live Control Room into the encoder’s YouTube or RTMP settings. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it or share it with people who should not control the stream.
  5. Send the feed and check the preview. Start the encoder and confirm that YouTube receives audio and video. Check the watch page on a phone as well as the control-room preview; listen for clean, continuous audio and look for visual or connection problems.
  6. Test before announcing a public launch. YouTube recommends testing and monitoring. Use an unlisted test stream to check playback, then confirm that the public broadcast behaves as intended before promoting it.
  7. Monitor and recover. Arrange a person or operational process to watch for a dropped connection, power failure, silent audio, or encoder fault and take action. YouTube discusses monitoring and encoder failover testing, but its guidance does not promise that a stream will never stop.
  8. Choose session length with replay needs in mind. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. If a replay matters, use shorter sessions and check the saved result in Studio; do not count on a complete automatic archive for a longer broadcast.

Choose how to keep the feed running

Method Useful when Main trade-off
StreamNeo cloud service You want uploaded videos to loop on YouTube without keeping a local computer running. Check that the service’s workflow, terms, and rights process suit your channel.
Existing computer with encoder software You want to start with equipment you already own or are streaming a live performance. The computer, power, network connection, and encoder configuration must remain healthy.
Dedicated hardware encoder You want a separate appliance, local recording, or scheduling for prerecorded media. It is specialized equipment and may be unnecessary for a simple prepared-music stream.

One dedicated option in YouTube’s encoder directory is the AJA HELO Plus, described as a standalone H.264 YouTube Live encoder with local recording and scheduling functionality for prerecorded media. It is optional, not a requirement. Compare any approach on whether it supports prerecorded loops or live performance, how it handles monitoring and recovery, whether it can record locally, and the total cost and complexity. Current prices and service plans are not established here; check providers and retailers directly before buying.

Troubleshoot common problems

  • Live streaming is not available: Check that the channel is verified, has no restriction in the past 90 days, and has completed first-time activation. Allow up to 24 hours for activation.
  • YouTube receives no signal: Check that the encoder has the correct server URL and stream key from the intended Live Control Room stream. Confirm the encoder is sending and the internet connection is working. If the key may have been exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
  • Audio or video is missing or intermittent: Check the encoder input and source playback, then inspect the preview and test playback on another device. Check the local computer, power, and network if using a local encoder.
  • The broadcast is replaced, warned, or interrupted: Treat this as a possible third-party content match. Review YouTube’s notice, stop using disputed material as directed, and contact the relevant rights owner or distributor. If the material is licensed, confirm that the channel is allowlisted in Content ID; a license by itself may not prevent interruption.
  • The stream stops unexpectedly: Check internet and power, encoder status, and whether someone can restart or recover the feed. For a local setup, these dependencies remain part of the operation; YouTube’s 24/7 API example is not a service-level guarantee.
  • A replay is missing or incomplete: Check the session duration and Studio archive. YouTube’s automatic-archive statement covers streams under 12 hours, so use shorter sessions when a replay is important.
