You can rebroadcast recorded conference sponsor presentations as a repeating YouTube Live stream by sending a looping playlist from OBS Studio to YouTube’s Live Control Room. Prepare and clear the recordings, create or schedule an encoder stream, configure the loop in OBS, then preview and monitor the broadcast. YouTube’s player loop control is not what broadcasts prerecorded videos live.
Before you set up the loop
Confirm you can rebroadcast the material
Get permission to rebroadcast each presentation, including its slides, music, and any third-party material embedded in the recording. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If it detects material, it can replace the stream with a placeholder and warn you; unresolved use can interrupt or terminate the broadcast. A license by itself may not prevent an interruption: YouTube says the rights owner may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Ask rights holders about allowlisting when relevant, and keep permissions and related correspondence accessible to the staff operating the stream.
Decide on the presentation order and review the complete files before going live. Preserve speaker names, sponsor titles, and useful event context. A short slate between talks can make transitions clearer, but it is an editorial choice, not a YouTube requirement.

Check channel eligibility
YouTube’s live-streaming tips say the channel must be verified and have had no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. Check eligibility before promoting the broadcast, so a channel restriction does not disrupt the event plan.

Create or schedule the YouTube Live stream
- Open YouTube Studio. Select Create → Go Live, then create or schedule an encoder stream in Live Control Room.
- Set the stream details. Enter the title and description, choose visibility (public, private, or unlisted), and configure the other event details. Confirm the intended watch page and schedule before sharing it.
- Keep the stream key private. Copy the stream URL and key for the encoder. YouTube describes stream keys as “like your YouTube stream’s password and address.” Limit access to staff who need it; do not put the key in screenshots, public chat, or shared documents. Create or reset keys in Live Control Room if access needs to change.
Build the repeating playback in OBS
OBS sends the live feed to YouTube; it is the source configuration in OBS—not a YouTube player setting—that repeats the prerecorded video. Choose the source method based on whether you are looping one file or a fixed-order playlist.

These are workflow differences, not measured performance differences. With either method, review the source’s playback and the end of each item; the documented loop controls do not promise seamless transitions between files.

Connect OBS, test, and go live
- Configure the encoder. In OBS, open the stream/service settings and enter the YouTube stream URL and key copied from Live Control Room. Use RTMPS if the encoder supports it; YouTube describes it as encrypted RTMP.
- Set video delivery to suit your source and connection. Match resolution, frame rate, and bitrate to the material and available upload capacity. Use YouTube’s current encoder settings recommendations for the selected codec and resolution; the appropriate values depend on those choices and your connection, so do not select a bitrate by guesswork. Set the keyframe interval to the value specified in YouTube’s current encoder guide.
- Configure early and test. YouTube recommends configuring the encoder at least two hours ahead and starting it at least 15 minutes before the scheduled event. Send a test stream before directing viewers to the broadcast.
- Check the preview and playback. Confirm the Live Control Room preview, watch page, mobile playback, audio, video, and stream health. Verify that the intended file or playlist plays in the right order and reaches its repeat point.
- Start deliberately. Start streaming from OBS; after confirming the preview, click Go Live in Live Control Room if the setup requires it. Monitor the broadcast and the repeating source while it runs.
- End the broadcast deliberately. When the loop is finished, stop the encoder and end the stream in Live Control Room. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; that guidance does not establish that a longer stream will be fully archived.
If the loop should hand viewers to another event
YouTube Live Redirect can send viewers to another live event or a Premiere when the loop ends. The sending creator must have more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guideline strikes. If the destination is another channel’s live stream, that channel may need to grant permission.

Troubleshoot common problems
- The channel cannot start a live stream: Check that the channel is verified and has no live-streaming restrictions from the preceding 90 days.
- YouTube does not receive the OBS feed: Recheck the stream URL and key in OBS against Live Control Room. Treat the key as a credential; reset it in Live Control Room if it may have been exposed.
- The video stops instead of repeating: Check that Loop is enabled on the Media Source, or Loop Playlist is enabled on the VLC Video source. For VLC Video, confirm VLC is installed and the playlist contains the intended files.
- The presentations play in the wrong order or a transition is abrupt: Review the playlist order and watch the end of each file in a test. Add a slate or adjust the editorial sequence if viewers need a clearer transition; do not assume the loop control creates seamless joins.
- The stream quality is unstable: Check stream health and available upload capacity, then align resolution, frame rate, and bitrate with YouTube’s current encoder recommendations. Test again before the scheduled start.
- YouTube warns about third-party content or interrupts the stream: Identify the flagged material, verify the relevant permission, and contact the rights holder about Content ID allowlisting if the material is licensed. A license may not, by itself, prevent Content ID from interrupting a live stream.
