The quickest way to turn static photos into a slideshow video is to use the app where your photos already live: Google Photos can automatically assemble a highlight video, Clipchamp can create an AI-generated first draft you can edit, and Apple Photos can make a music-backed slideshow on iPhone or a saved, editable project on Mac. Whichever route you choose, check the order, crops, timing and music before sharing.
Choose the automatic slideshow method that fits your photos
Start with the location of your photos and decide how much control you need. Google Photos suits a cloud-based library and can create a highlight video from people, places, themes or dates. Microsoft Clipchamp is a better fit if you want an AI-generated draft followed by timeline editing. Apple Photos offers a built-in, fast slideshow on iPhone and a more editable saved project on Mac.

For a simple moving sequence made from a small selection, Google Photos also offers an Animation: select up to 50 photos and choose Create new > Animation. That is distinct from a Highlight video and is not the same as an AI-assembled, editable video project.
Prepare the photos and choose the format
Automation can make a draft quickly, but the quality of the result depends on the source set. Before generating anything, remove duplicates, screenshots that do not belong, near-identical frames and images containing information you do not want to share. A short, deliberate selection is usually easier to review than a whole camera roll.

- Choose the shape for the destination. Landscape is generally suited to TV and desktop playback; portrait is suited to phone-first viewing. Clipchamp exposes orientation choices during AI composition.
- Think about the beginning and end. If the app lets you control selection or order, start with a clear establishing photo and finish on a strong closing image.
- Consider the audience and music. Confirm that the chosen track is appropriate and that you have the rights needed for the way you plan to share the video.
Do not assume the automatic tool will preserve your intended chronology, give every image equal screen time or crop faces correctly. Treat its output as a draft, not a finished edit.
Make an automatic slideshow with Google Photos
Use Google Photos when the pictures are already in its library and you want an automatically assembled video without setting up an editing timeline.
- Open Google Photos and choose Create > Highlight video.
- Select the people, places, themes or dates you want the video to feature.
- Let Google Photos create a draft, then preview it.
- Save the video if the draft is suitable. Before sharing, change the music, reorder clips or remove clips as needed.
If you want a basic animation rather than a highlight edit, select no more than 50 photos and choose Create new > Animation. The animation route is useful for quickly playing a chosen set of images in sequence; use Highlight video when you want Google Photos to assemble a themed video draft.

Make an AI slideshow draft with Microsoft Clipchamp
Clipchamp’s Auto compose is designed to produce a first cut from your media. Microsoft describes it this way: “Auto compose uses AI to turn your media into a first-draft video.” It can select highlights and suggest pacing, layouts, transitions, music and effects. You can regenerate a version or open the result in the timeline for hands-on changes.

- In Clipchamp, choose Create a video with AI.
- Add the photos you want to use.
- Choose style preferences, orientation and video length.
- Preview the generated version. If it is not right, regenerate it or open the timeline to edit specific clips.
- Export when you have checked the edit. The documented Auto compose export is MP4 at 1080p HD.
AI selection is not a substitute for checking exact details. Clipchamp may not get your intended order, durations, captions, names, dates or brand rules right. Correct those items in the timeline rather than assuming the generated draft reflects them accurately.
Clipchamp says uploaded media stays on the computer, browser processing is used, and the media is not used to train its AI models. That stated handling applies to the Clipchamp workflow described here; it should not be generalized to other slideshow apps or to a different processing setup.

Make a slideshow in Apple Photos on iPhone
On iPhone, Apple Photos can create a quick music-backed slideshow from selected photos. Apple’s guide says, “Slideshows are automatically formatted and set to music.”
- Open Photos and select the photos you want in the slideshow.
- Tap More > Start Slideshow.
- Preview the result, then customize the transition style, speed, time per slide, song or loop setting if needed.
- Share the slideshow from the app when it is ready.
This is the simplest Apple route when you want to view or share a quickly formatted slideshow. If you need a more deliberately edited, saved project, use Photos on Mac instead.

Mac Photos offers a saved project you can refine. Select the photos and choose File > Create > Slideshow > Photos. In the project, reorder the images, choose a theme, add music or text, and adjust duration and transitions. Preview the sequence and export it when the pacing and presentation are right.

This option is useful when you want the photos to remain in a project you can revisit and edit, rather than making only a quick automatic presentation. Check the exported file in the player and destination where it will be viewed; a sequence that looks balanced on a Mac display may feel different on a phone or TV.

Automatic tools make creative choices on your behalf. Give the completed draft one full review from beginning to end, with attention to details that are easy to miss in a thumbnail view.
- Order and story: Confirm that the sequence makes sense and that the opening and closing frames work.
- Crops and orientation: Check faces, horizons and important objects for awkward cuts or unexpected rotation.
- Duplicates and omissions: Look for repeated images, missed photos and near-identical frames that interrupt the flow.
- Timing and transitions: Make sure photos stay on screen long enough to understand and that effects do not distract.
- Text and factual details: Correct misspellings and verify captions, dates and names rather than relying on generated choices.
- Music and sharing rights: Check that the track suits the audience and is permitted for the intended use.
- Aspect ratio: Preview in the intended orientation so portrait images do not look cramped in landscape, or vice versa.
There is no independent performance or time-saved statistic established here for these slideshow products. Choose by workflow and review the actual output instead of assuming that automation guarantees a particular quality or editing time.
