Create a festival playlist calendar by choosing observances that fit your viewers and channel, checking dates against reliable calendars and local practice, then scheduling realistic video work and organizing the finished videos into useful YouTube playlists. India has no single holiday list that covers every region and tradition, so treat national calendars as date-checking starting points—not as a complete content plan.
1. Define the audience and editorial scope
Before collecting dates, write down who the channel serves. Specify its languages, the regions or communities it addresses, its subject, the formats it can produce, and how much work the team can sustain across a year. A channel about devotional music, for example, may have a different reason to cover an observance than a regional travel or food channel.
Do not try to publish for every festival or civic observance. Include an event when it is relevant to the intended audience and the channel can make something useful for it. A smaller, well-supported slate is easier to verify and produce than an all-India list treated as a mandatory video schedule.
2. Build and verify a year-specific date list
Start with a current official calendar, then cross-check dates that matter to your audience with suitable local or tradition-specific sources. Government calendars differ in which observances and categories they list. Some dates may be interpreted or observed differently by place or tradition, and dates can change; verify before publishing a dated video, thumbnail, description, or promotional post.

The following are representative 2026 date anchors from the UIDAI calendar, not a complete list of Indian festivals. The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs calendar independently lists Holi, Dussehra, and Diwali on the dates shown. Use the India Meteorological Department’s Rashtriya Panchanga as another reference for festival correspondences with the Gregorian calendar, while still checking the observance relevant to your viewers.
| 2026 date | Observance listed | Planning note |
|---|---|---|
| 14 January | Makara Sankranti / Magha Bihu / Pongal | Choose the name and angle that fit the audience and region you serve. |
| 4 March | Holi | Also listed on the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs calendar. |
| 21 March | Id-ul-Fitr | Listed date in the UIDAI calendar; verify the locally applicable date before scheduling or publishing. |
| 26 August | Onam or Thiru Onam Day | Confirm the relevant observance and audience context. |
| 20 October | Dussehra | Also listed on the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs calendar. |
| 8 November | Diwali (Deepavali) | Also listed on the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs calendar. |
| 24 November | Guru Nanak’s Birthday | Include when it is relevant to the channel’s audience and subject. |
Reference calendars: UIDAI 2026 calendar, Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs 2026 calendar, and the India Meteorological Department’s Rashtriya Panchanga.

3. Decide which observances earn a place
Assess each candidate against the same practical criteria. This makes it easier to explain why a date is included, deferred, or left out.

4. Turn dates into a production slate
Put selected observances into a spreadsheet, paper planner, or digital calendar. For each item, track the information needed to take it from an idea to a published video:
- Observance, year, intended region or audience, and date source.
- Date-check status and who will verify it again before publication.
- Video angle, format, language, and whether the material is timely or evergreen.
- Owner, production milestones, and planned release window.
- Playlist or playlists where the finished video belongs.
- Effort estimate and any rights or asset checks that need to be completed.
Choose the release window according to the video’s purpose and your channel’s audience patterns. Official YouTube guidance reviewed for this planning approach does not establish a universal number of days or weeks to publish ahead of a festival. Use your own channel data and editorial judgment rather than treating a fixed lead time as a rule.

5. Create playlists that help viewers browse
In YouTube Studio, open the playlist-management area to create a playlist. YouTube’s desktop guidance lets creators provide a title and description, set visibility, choose video arrangement, and add videos; playlists can be reordered later. Labels should be concise and recognizable, and descriptions should accurately tell viewers what the collection contains. See YouTube Help: Create and manage playlists for the current interface guidance.
Choose a useful organizing principle
One annual festival playlist can provide a broad browseable collection. Separate playlists can be clearer when viewers are likely to browse by language, region, subject, format, or season—for example, festival cooking videos or devotional performances. Avoid creating many overlapping collections that make it harder to find the intended videos.
Best Value
Use ordinary playlists for flexible discovery
An ordinary playlist is generally the more flexible choice when the aim is to group related videos for browsing. A video can be added to useful ordinary playlists without claiming that all items must be watched in a particular sequence.
Reserve series playlists for videos meant to be watched together
YouTube’s official series playlist setting is intended for videos that viewers should watch together as a series, not simply for broad organization. YouTube says the account must be verified, each video can belong to no more than one series playlist, and only videos uploaded by the creator with the necessary rights may be included. If a festival video needs to appear in more than one series, or the collection is just a topical directory, use ordinary playlists instead. Details are in YouTube Help: Series playlists.
6. Review the calendar after publishing
At the end of a season or year, group the channel’s content by dimensions such as format, intended audience, topic longevity, and production cost. YouTube recommends examining patterns across content groups in Analytics over a wide period and notes that playlists can help assess sets of videos. Apply that approach to decide which festival topics or formats to repeat, adapt, or drop. It is a planning method, not a promise that festival videos or playlists will increase reach.

Keep a live festival channel running without leaving a computer on
If the calendar also includes uploaded videos that you want to loop as a 24/7 YouTube live stream, StreamNeo runs that stream from the cloud rather than from a computer at home. It plays uploaded videos, not a live camera feed.
Or let it run in the cloud
- Upload your recording or build a playlist.
- Add your YouTube stream key once.
- Go live; StreamNeo loops the video from the cloud.
Nothing has to stay on at home. Each slot streams the uploaded file as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. Start the free day on StreamNeo.
