You can build a recurring YouTube stream of cricket gameplay by capturing a PC game in OBS, sending it to YouTube with an encoder, and scheduling monitored broadcasts in repeatable blocks. A continuous channel is a production routine—not a promise that one broadcast will run forever. YouTube documents automatic archiving for streams under 12 hours, so schedule separate sessions below that limit when preserving replays matters.
What you need before you start
- A cricket game on a PC, or a console with built-in streaming or a capture-card route.
- A verified YouTube channel with live streaming enabled and no live-stream restrictions in the preceding 90 days. The minimum age to live stream is 16; first-time activation can take up to 24 hours. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility and setup guidance.
- An encoder such as OBS for PC gameplay. OBS is free and open source, and YouTube lists it among its software encoders.
- A stable internet connection with enough sustained upload capacity for your chosen video bitrate, plus a plan to monitor and restart broadcasts.
- Rights to transmit the gameplay and all audio in the broadcast. Streaming permission and monetization permission are not automatically the same.
Choose the game and production route
PC gameplay with OBS
For a PC cricket game, OBS gives you flexible game capture, audio mixing, overlays, and microphone commentary. Capture the game window when possible; display capture is a fallback if window capture does not work. YouTube describes encoder streaming as a way to share gameplay and use advanced audio/video production.
Cricket 24 is one PC example: Steam lists it as a sports simulation by Big Ant Studios, published by Nacon, with a release date of 4 October 2023. Its listed minimum PC requirements include Windows 10/11, 8 GB RAM, an entry-level listed GPU, broadband, and 60 GB storage. Those are storefront minimums, not a guarantee that a PC can run the game and encode your chosen stream quality at once. Check the current storefront, platform availability in India, and your system before buying; the listing does not establish a Cricket 24 streaming or commercial-use license.
Console gameplay
YouTube supports console streaming, and some consoles can broadcast directly. A capture card is relevant when routing console video through a PC encoder; it is not needed for PC gameplay or for a console’s built-in streaming route. Direct console streaming may offer fewer production controls than a PC encoder, so check the console’s current setup and moderation options.

Confirm channel access and game rights
- In YouTube Studio, start the live-stream setup flow and confirm the channel can create a live broadcast. If this is the first activation, allow up to 24 hours for access to become available.
- Review the current terms from the game’s publisher for gameplay broadcasts and commercial use. YouTube says monetization of game content depends on the publisher’s commercial-use rights; no Cricket 24-specific streaming permission is established here.
- Plan for YouTube’s live-content copyright checks. Do not include broadcast footage, unlicensed music, or other material you do not have the right to transmit.
- Keep the stream key private. Treat it like a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to send video to your live event.
India’s Copyright Act includes a broad definition of communication to the public, including making works available for public enjoyment by display or diffusion. That is general statutory context, not a case-specific ruling about gameplay or fair dealing. Likewise, the PIB summary of India’s Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Rules, 2026 discusses classification factors for online money games; it does not determine the legal status of a particular cricket game or every in-game feature.
Set up OBS and connect it to YouTube
- Create a broadcast in YouTube Studio. Choose the live setup flow and schedule a new stream or create one to go live. Select the intended orientation and privacy/visibility settings, and enter a clear title and description.
- Copy the stream details. From the stream setup screen, copy YouTube’s server URL and stream key. In OBS, open Settings > Stream, select YouTube or a custom service as appropriate, and enter the details. Do not share screenshots that reveal the key.
- Add the game picture. In OBS, add a Game Capture source and select the cricket game. If the game is not captured reliably, use Window Capture or Display Capture. Confirm the preview shows the full game and that overlays do not obscure the score or important play.
- Set audio sources. Check game audio and microphone input separately in the OBS audio mixer. Speak and listen to a test recording or private/unlisted preview before the public session. Avoid including copyrighted music from the game menu or background apps unless you have permission.
- Set video and output settings. Choose a resolution and frame rate your PC can sustain while playing and encoding. Use H.264, constant bitrate (CBR), a two-second keyframe interval, and RTMPS as recommended by YouTube. Start with a bitrate suited to your measured upload and lower it if the connection or encoder cannot sustain it.
- Wait for YouTube’s preview. Start streaming from OBS and confirm that the incoming preview appears in YouTube Studio with picture and sound. Check for warnings before clicking the control to go live.
- Monitor the broadcast. Watch the live preview and OBS status indicators, listen for audio problems, and have someone or a scheduled check-in monitor chat and interruptions during unattended periods.
Choose bitrate and quality for your actual connection
YouTube’s published H.264 recommendations are 5–14 Mbps for 1080p at 30 frames per second and 6–17 Mbps for 1080p at 60 frames per second. These are encoder-to-YouTube settings guidance, not a promise about the stability of an Indian home connection or a universal ISP plan.
Run a sustained upload test at the time and place you expect to stream. Leave headroom for network variation and other household traffic rather than setting the encoder at the full measured upload rate. If the stream buffers or OBS reports dropped frames, first reduce bitrate; if necessary, step down from 60 to 30 fps or lower the resolution. Make one change at a time and verify the preview again.

- Unstable upload: lower the bitrate, reduce frame rate or resolution, and prefer a wired connection where practical.
- Encoder overload: reduce output resolution or frame rate, close unnecessary applications, or use an encoder preset that places less load on the PC.
- Good game but poor stream: test recording and streaming separately; gameplay performance alone does not show whether the encoder and upload are keeping up.
Make the channel continuous through scheduled blocks
Build a recurring schedule rather than assuming a single session can stay live indefinitely. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. If you want replays, use separate sessions shorter than 12 hours and verify each archive afterward; YouTube does not document reliable automatic archiving for longer sessions.
- Choose a repeatable broadcast window and schedule each session in YouTube Studio.
- Prepare a playlist or match sequence and a restart plan for disconnects, game crashes, power loss, or encoder failure.
- Monitor the encoder, YouTube preview, audio, chat, and copyright notices while each session is live.
- At the end of a block, stop the broadcast cleanly, check the archive, then start the next scheduled session when ready.
For a genuine 24/7-looking channel, the operational work is continuity between sessions: someone must monitor the stream and respond to failures, unless a cloud service handles the looping and reconnection workflow. YouTube’s encoder recommendations are technical guidance, not an uptime service-level guarantee.
Make gameplay distinctive and understand monetization limits
A long feed of gameplay without meaningful original contribution may not qualify for monetization. YouTube Help says, “Videos simply showing a user playing a video game or the use of software for extended periods of time may not be accepted for monetization.” Add commentary tied to the action—such as explaining bowling changes, field placement, shot selection, controls, or match tactics—and make it useful to viewers. This can improve originality, but it does not guarantee YouTube Partner Program acceptance or publisher clearance.

YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches, including copyrighted content in another live broadcast. It may replace the image, interrupt, or terminate a stream when a match is identified. Even material you have licensed may require the rights holder to allowlist your channel in Content ID, and an archived stream may receive a claim after it ends. Review YouTube’s live-stream copyright guidance and resolve rights questions before broadcasting.
Horizontal streams support clickable links and live pre- and mid-roll ads; vertical live streams can appear in the Shorts feed and support certain fan-funding features depending on eligibility. These are format trade-offs, not guarantees of reach. Choose orientation based on how viewers will watch and what production controls you need.

You cannot go live
Confirm the channel is verified, has no live-stream restrictions in the preceding 90 days, and meets YouTube’s minimum age requirement. For first-time activation, allow up to 24 hours; also confirm you completed the activation flow in the correct channel.

YouTube does not receive the OBS stream
Check that the correct server URL and current stream key are in OBS, and that OBS is streaming to the intended event. If you exposed the key publicly, reset it in YouTube Studio and update OBS.
The stream buffers or drops frames
Distinguish network drops from encoder overload using OBS’s status indicators. Lower bitrate for network instability; lower resolution or frame rate and reduce PC load for encoding overload. Recheck the YouTube preview after each adjustment.

Game audio or microphone is missing
Check the relevant source and meter in OBS, confirm the correct desktop-audio and microphone devices are selected, and make a short test before going live. Avoid assuming that a visible moving meter means the audience hears a clean mix.

The broadcast is interrupted or the archive is missing
Check YouTube Studio for copyright notices, stream-health warnings, and the event’s status. If an archive matters, keep the session under 12 hours and verify the replay after the broadcast rather than assuming a longer session will be retained.
