To create a basic form with BuildHTML, first identify which BuildHTML project you mean. The name refers to both a JavaScript project and a separate Rust crate, and their APIs are not interchangeable. The available project information for the JavaScript version describes form helpers but does not establish a current release or verified method signatures, so use its current repository instructions for installation and code rather than relying on guessed syntax.

Identify the BuildHTML project

The JavaScript BuildHTML project and the Rust crate named build_html are separate libraries. This guide concerns the JavaScript project, whose progress page describes helpers for forms, tags, layouts, and data. That page is not a complete API reference, so it does not confirm current installation commands, method names, or how to render a form in a particular environment. Check the project’s current documentation and release information before writing code: JavaScript BuildHTML project information.

Do not copy Rust examples into a JavaScript project. The Rust crate has its own builder-pattern API and documentation; it is a different implementation: Rust build_html crate documentation.

Plan the form before building it

A form should ask only for the information the application needs. Decide what each field collects and what should happen when the user submits it. For a simple contact form, that might mean a name, an email address, a message, and a submit button.

HTML and CSS: Design and Build Websites
  • HTML CSS Design and Build Web Sites
  • Comes with secure packaging
  • It can be a gift option
  • Use a text input for a short text answer, such as a name.
  • Use an email input when the expected answer is an email address.
  • Use a larger text area for a longer response, such as a message.
  • Use a button with a clear submit label so the user knows how to send the form.

These are standard HTML control choices; consult MDN for current element details and examples: MDN: The Form element and MDN: Forms.

Build the controls using verified project syntax

Once you have the current JavaScript BuildHTML documentation open, follow its documented installation and API instructions for creating each form control and adding it to a form. The available project information confirms that form helpers are described, but does not verify exact function or method names. For that reason, a purported code sample or install command here could fail against the version you install.

Whichever API the project documents, make each control understandable and accessible:

  • Give every field a visible, descriptive label associated with that control.
  • Choose a control appropriate to the kind of answer requested.
  • Include a submit control whose wording describes the action.
  • Keep the form focused on a single task, and do not place one form inside another.

MDN explains form controls and labels in its current references: MDN: The Label element and MDN: The Input element. The HTML form markup and its controls define the interface and submission behavior; they do not, on their own, define how an application processes or stores the submitted information.

Connect submission to an application

Decide where the form should send its data or which application handler should receive it. Configure that destination or handler using the features and guidance documented for your application and the current BuildHTML project. The project information available here does not establish a submission-handling API, a storage mechanism, or a backend integration.

After rendering the form in the target environment, test the complete flow: confirm that the controls appear, labels identify their fields, and submitting the form reaches the intended destination or handler. A rendered form without a working receiver may display correctly while doing nothing useful with the submitted information.

Handle user-provided values carefully

Form values are user input. If your application displays submitted text or accepts URLs, follow the current JavaScript project’s documented escaping and URL-handling guidance, and validate input according to the application’s needs. The available project progress page mentions a URL-sanitization security finding, but does not establish the behavior of the current code or whether a fix appears in a released version. Check the relevant current documentation and release notes rather than assuming a security property.

Do not transfer the Rust crate’s escaping warning to the JavaScript project. The Rust documentation says escaping is not automatic and points to escape_html for untrusted text; that guidance applies to the Rust crate only: Rust build_html crate documentation.
