To run a 24/7 YouTube stream of soft rain on a tent, prepare a rights-cleared video and rain soundtrack, make a seamless loop, then send it to YouTube from a live encoder. Verify that your channel can livestream, test the complete scene before going public, and monitor YouTube’s Live Control Room. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content, and a simple repetitive loop is not guaranteed to qualify for monetization.
1. Choose the scene and clear the rights
Decide whether to film a real tent in the rain or create the scene from designed or stock elements. Original footage and audio make it easier to document where your material came from, but they are not a guarantee against mistaken copyright claims.
If you use third-party video, music, or rain sounds, save the license and check that it expressly covers YouTube live transmission, the territories where the stream may be viewed, commercial use if relevant, and any archived replay. “Royalty-free” does not automatically mean unrestricted use in a live broadcast.

YouTube says all live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted material in another live broadcast. A rights owner may interrupt a stream; even a license may not prevent interruption if the owner has not added your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Ask the owner about allowlisting before going live with licensed material. See YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.

2. Make the video and audio loop seamless
Assemble the scene in a video editor into a prepared composition rather than relying on YouTube to repeat an uploaded video as a live stream. The particular editing steps depend on your editor and source files; the important result is a long-running video and soundtrack that join without a visible jump or abrupt break.
Check the visual join
- Review the final frames beside the opening frames. The tent, rain pattern, lighting, and camera position should not suddenly jump when playback wraps.
- If the original shot cannot join cleanly, use a deliberate transition or vary the composition so the seam is less noticeable.
- Keep a high-quality master and your source footage so you can correct a seam without rebuilding the scene.
Check the rain audio
- Listen across the loop point on headphones and speakers for a click, silence, sudden level change, or repeating burst.
- Keep rain ambience at a consistent, comfortable level. Avoid adding sounds or music unless you have rights to use them in both the live stream and its replay.
- Retain the original recordings and licenses alongside the finished master.
There is no single required loop duration or file format for this workflow. Choose a duration and export settings your editor can handle reliably, then test the actual exported file from beginning to end and across its join.

3. Check YouTube livestream eligibility and create the broadcast
YouTube requires the channel to be verified and to have no live-stream restriction in the preceding 90 days. If livestreaming is not available, resolve the channel’s eligibility or restriction issue before configuring an encoder. See YouTube’s live-streaming requirements and setup guide.
- Open YouTube Studio and enter the Live Control Room.
- Create or schedule a live stream and set its title, description, audience, visibility, and other metadata. Make the title and description accurately identify the ambient scene.
- Choose the encoder workflow and copy the stream’s server URL and stream key from the Live Control Room.
- Keep the stream key private. Treat it like a password: anyone with access may be able to send video to your broadcast. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
An encoder is the practical option for sending a prepared video-and-audio composition as a live feed. YouTube distinguishes the viewer-facing broadcast from the incoming stream; its API documentation also describes a 24/7 broadcast use case where another broadcast shares the incoming stream. 4. Configure the encoder and test the signal
In your encoder, select the prepared looping composition, enter YouTube’s server URL and stream key, and use settings supported by both the encoder and your upload connection. YouTube supports RTMP/RTMPS ingest, H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1 video, up to 60 fps, and AAC or MP3 audio. It recommends a two-second keyframe interval and says not to exceed four seconds. There is no one best resolution or bitrate for every setup: the right choice depends on the source, encoder stability, and sustained upload capacity. Choose settings your connection can maintain continuously, rather than relying on a brief peak-speed result. YouTube transcodes live streams for viewers, so an upload does not mean viewers all receive the same rendition.

Run a representative test
- Before publishing publicly, send a test with the same motion, rain audio, resolution, frame rate, and encoder settings planned for the real broadcast.
- Watch the incoming preview and stream-health status in the Live Control Room. Check for warnings or review messages, not just whether the encoder says it is connected.
- Listen for steady audio and watch for a clean loop transition. Confirm the stream does not freeze or drift out of sync during the test.
- Correct problems in the source, encoder, or network, then test again before relying on the setup for a continuous broadcast.
5. Keep the local stream running
With a local encoder, the computer, encoder process, network connection, and source media must remain available throughout the broadcast. Monitor the Live Control Room for stream-health warnings and interruptions, and check that the output still contains the intended video and audio. A prepared loop alone does not keep a stream online if the computer or connection stops sending it.
If YouTube or the connection drops, check the Live Control Room and the encoder’s connection status, then restore the feed using the current stream details. Keep the stream key secure and have your master and project files available in case the source needs repair. YouTube’s documentation distinguishes broadcast and stream resources, so a broadcast’s status and the incoming feed are related but not identical.

6. Understand copyright and monetization separately
Copyright permission is not immunity from live interruption
A license establishes what the licensor permits; it does not itself ensure YouTube’s live Content ID systems will leave the stream uninterrupted. Confirm the license scope and, for third-party material, ask whether the rights owner can allowlist your channel. YouTube also notes that archived live streams may receive Content ID claims after the broadcast.
A loop does not guarantee Partner Program monetization
YouTube’s monetization policies apply to live streams. The platform says monetized content should be original and authentic, not mass-produced, generic, or repetitive. Reviewers may consider the channel’s theme, viewed and recent videos, watch-time distribution, metadata, and About section. A highly repetitive ambient loop therefore carries monetization risk, but YouTube’s policy does not establish that every ambient stream is automatically ineligible. Eligibility is a channel-level review outcome, not something a stream format can promise. See YouTube’s channel monetization policies.
7. Decide whether to run the encoder yourself or in the cloud
A local encoder gives you direct control over the composition and any overlays, but it depends on a computer and connection staying active. A hosted service shifts the continuous playback to a cloud service, which can be useful if you do not want your home setup to run all the time. Compare the service’s actual looping, recovery, monitoring, quality, and billing terms before choosing; features vary by provider.
