To create a 24/7 YouTube stream of Christian meditation and prayer recordings, prepare a continuous audio-and-visual program, send it to YouTube Live from an encoder or hosted service, and monitor the stream so you can respond if it fails. Before launch, verify that your channel can livestream and clear the rights to every recording and visual. YouTube may interrupt a live stream when it detects third-party content, even if you have a license.
What you need for a continuous prayer or meditation stream
YouTube supports encoder-based livestreaming, which suits a prepared program made from recordings and a visual scene. An encoder running on a computer can send the program to YouTube; it is not a YouTube-native feature that automatically loops uploaded videos. You will need:
- A verified YouTube channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days.
- Prayer, meditation, music, spoken-word recordings, and visuals that you own or are authorized to use in a livestream.
- An encoder setup or hosted service capable of playing your prepared program continuously.
- A stable internet connection that can sustain the selected video bitrate, plus a person or alerting and recovery process to catch interruptions.
YouTube lists encoder streaming among its supported livestreaming methods. It says, “To live stream, you need to have no live streaming restrictions in the past 90 days and you need to verify your channel.” Check YouTube’s live-streaming requirements before building the setup.

How to build and start the stream
1. Verify channel readiness
Sign in to YouTube Studio and confirm that the channel is verified and eligible to livestream. Check for any live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. Resolve eligibility issues before scheduling a continuous broadcast.

2. Clear rights to recordings and visuals
Make a list of every audio and visual element in the program: music, spoken prayers, readings, artwork, background footage, and any other third-party material. Obtain the rights required for livestreaming and retain written evidence of the permissions.
YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content. If it identifies a match, it can replace the stream with a placeholder, interrupt it, or terminate it. A license alone may not prevent an interruption: ask the rights holder whether your channel must be added to its Content ID allowlist, and have that completed before going live. Read YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams.

3. Assemble a continuous program
Arrange the recordings in the order you want viewers to hear them. Prepare a visual scene, such as a prayer image or slowly changing background, and make sure any on-screen text is readable. Add the scene and audio to your encoder, then configure the software or service to play the prepared sequence continuously. YouTube’s encoder documentation does not certify specific playlist-looping software, so confirm that your chosen encoder can repeat the program without manual intervention.

4. Create a YouTube live stream and connect the encoder
- In YouTube Studio, create or schedule a live stream using the encoder workflow.
- Open the stream’s settings in Studio and copy the displayed RTMPS server address and stream key into the matching fields in your encoder.
- Keep the stream key private. Anyone who obtains it may be able to send a broadcast to your channel; do not show it in a screen recording or share it in public.
- Connect using RTMPS, which is RTMP over SSL. Google’s technical documentation specifies port 443 for the connection. Use the endpoint and key shown by YouTube Studio rather than guessing an address. See Google’s RTMPS connection documentation.
5. Set sustainable video and audio settings
Choose settings your upload connection can sustain continuously, not just during a short speed test. YouTube recommends testing before launch and monitoring stream health. Its published guidance gives these settings:

| Setting | YouTube recommendation | Practical note |
|---|---|---|
| Video codec and bitrate | H.264; 10 Mbps for 1080p at 30 fps | This is a platform recommendation, not a guarantee that your connection can sustain it. |
| Keyframe interval | 2 seconds recommended; no more than 4 seconds | Set this in the encoder’s output or video settings. |
| Video rate control | CBR | Use constant bitrate as specified in YouTube’s encoder guidance. |
| Stereo audio bitrate | 128 Kbps | Check the encoder’s audio output settings and listen during rehearsal. |
These are YouTube’s published encoding recommendations; the reviewed page does not show a publication date. If your upload connection cannot hold the selected bitrate reliably, reduce resolution or frame rate and test again. Consult YouTube’s encoder settings and stream-health guidance.
6. Rehearse before going public
Where possible, run a private or unlisted rehearsal using the complete audio and video path. Check that the program advances or loops as intended, the audio is clear, the visual is correct, and YouTube Studio reports healthy ingestion. Test for long enough to expose problems that a brief preview may miss.

7. Start the broadcast and monitor it
Start the encoder, confirm that YouTube receives the feed, then make the stream public or begin the scheduled event in Studio. Continue monitoring the encoder, network, and YouTube stream-health messages. Decide in advance who will notice an outage and how they will restart or repair the stream.
How to keep the stream running—and what 24/7 does not guarantee
A continuous broadcast depends on more than the encoder being switched on. A local setup relies on the computer, encoder, power, and internet connection staying available. OBS notes that rising dropped frames can indicate an unstable connection or a bitrate the connection cannot sustain. Check dropped frames and stream health, and lower the bitrate or video settings if the connection struggles. Read OBS’s guidance on dropped frames and connection issues.

Plan for failures rather than assuming a single workstation will never disconnect. Set an alert or assign someone to check the stream, document how to reconnect the encoder, and test the recovery procedure. The official material reviewed does not establish a maximum duration for one YouTube live event, the archive behavior of very long streams, or a guarantee of uninterrupted broadcasting. Verify the current Studio workflow for your event before promising viewers that one broadcast will remain live indefinitely.
Should you archive the live stream?
Decide separately whether you want YouTube to archive the broadcast. YouTube says Content ID claims on an archived live stream are made after the live stream ends if you choose to archive it. Its guidance does not establish the archive duration limit or confirm whether a specific 24/7 broadcast can be archived in full. Do not rely on a complete archive without checking the current options for your stream.
