You can turn cleared podcast episodes into a continuous YouTube Live feed by creating a broadcast in YouTube Studio, sending it an episode playlist through an encoder, and monitoring the stream in Live Control Room. The setup is not a substitute for an episode archive: YouTube’s guidance says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived, while longer streams should be recorded separately and uploaded manually. Plan rights, recovery, and episode-by-episode access before you go live.
Choose a format: one continuous broadcast or separate episodes
A YouTube broadcast is a distinct video resource connected to a stream that carries the audio and video signal. Google’s Live Streaming API documentation, last updated September 14, 2026, describes a 24/7 broadcast that can remain active while another broadcast uses the same stream. A broadcast with no scheduled end time is treated as continuing indefinitely; that setting does not guarantee uninterrupted operation.
| Format | Best fit | Archive and operating considerations |
|---|---|---|
| One continuous broadcast | A radio-style rotation where listeners can tune in at any time. | It is one long video, so individual episode boundaries and titles may be less convenient to browse. Plan separate recordings and manual uploads for a complete episode archive. |
| Separate scheduled broadcasts | Episodes that should have their own titles, descriptions, and replay pages. | Each episode is a distinct broadcast. You can use the same stream for multiple broadcasts, but the operator must schedule and manage them. |
The API describes a stream as usable by up to three live broadcasts. Its example keeps a continuing 24/7 broadcast active while a separate interview broadcast shares the stream; ending the interview does not end the continuing feed. The documentation establishes how these formats work, not which will rank better in search or earn more.
Clear rights before building the rotation
Owning the podcast does not necessarily mean you control every element in every episode. Check each recording for music beds, theme music, clips, guest contributions, artwork, and other third-party material. Keep written permission or license records for anything you do not fully own.

YouTube Help says all live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content, including another live broadcast. YouTube may replace the stream with a placeholder and issue a warning; if the material remains, the stream can be interrupted or terminated. A license alone may not prevent a live interruption: ask the rightsholder to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist before launch. Archived streams can also receive Content ID claims after they finish. See YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.
Copyright enforcement, a live interruption, and monetization review are separate issues. YouTube’s surfaced monetization policy text says reused-content rules apply to live streams, and satisfying reused-content examples does not remove separate copyright requirements. Do not assume that looping your own podcast qualifies for monetization; check the current YouTube channel monetization policies and your channel’s eligibility and review status.

Prepare the episodes and the listener-facing feed
Build a rights-cleared playlist
Arrange episodes in the intended rotation and check the transitions, levels, and playback order. If an episode contains a segment you cannot clear, remove or replace it before adding the episode to the feed. Keep an independent copy of the source recordings so an interruption or archive limitation does not leave you without the original episodes.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsMake the video useful, not just technically valid
A podcast feed still needs a video signal. Use show artwork you have permission to display and make the show name, current episode or rotation information, and any relevant content warning readable. This is practical presentation advice, not a specific YouTube format requirement. Avoid implying that a static image is a live camera or a live report.

Create the broadcast and send the feed
- Open YouTube Studio Live Control Room. Create or schedule a live stream. Set its title, description, visibility, and schedule to match the continuous feed or episode format you chose. YouTube’s live stream settings guide explains the available controls.
- Choose the broadcast and stream arrangement. For a continuous feed, create a broadcast without a scheduled end time if that option is available in your workflow. For episode-based programming, create separate broadcasts as needed. YouTube’s API treats a broadcast as a distinct video and binds each broadcast to a stream.
- Copy the stream key into your encoder. Use an encoder capable of sending your prepared audio/video playlist to YouTube. The stream key links that signal to the selected YouTube stream. Treat it like a password: do not publish or share it, and reset it in Studio if it is exposed.
- Start the encoder and check the preview. Confirm that Live Control Room receives the intended picture and sound, then start the broadcast in YouTube. Check stream health and confirm that the public or unlisted viewing page behaves as intended.
- Monitor the live feed. Watch Live Control Room for stream-health warnings, copyright notices, and interruptions. Keep a restart procedure and a local or otherwise independent source recording available; an indefinite schedule does not keep an encoder, network, account, or YouTube running without interruption.
For encoder setup and production workflow, consult YouTube’s Full live production guide. The precise encoder settings depend on your source and encoder; use YouTube’s current recommendations for your selected resolution and verify the incoming signal in Live Control Room rather than assuming an arbitrary bitrate or keyframe value suits every setup.
Plan the archive separately from the live feed
Do not treat a 24/7 broadcast as a guaranteed complete, easy-to-browse archive. YouTube’s official production guidance says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived and recommends that teams record longer streams separately for manual upload. The publication date of the accessed guide is not displayed, so recheck current Studio behavior before relying on it. The guidance does not mean that every stream longer than 12 hours will fail to archive; it means you should not rely on YouTube alone for a complete long-form recording.

Confirm the available DVR and archive settings for the broadcast before launch, and keep separate recordings if preserving every episode matters.

Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →A useful archive workflow is to retain original episode files, record the continuous output independently if you need a full capture, and upload individual episodes as separate videos for discoverability. Test the complete process before making the live feed the only place an episode can be heard.

Troubleshoot common failures
- Studio does not receive a preview: Check that the encoder is running, the correct stream key and stream are selected, and the encoder is sending a signal. If the key was exposed, reset it and update the encoder.
- The feed stops or is replaced by a placeholder: Check Live Control Room for copyright notices and stream-health alerts. Remove or replace the flagged material, resolve the rights issue, and ask a relevant rightsholder about Content ID channel allowlisting where you have a license.
- A licensed episode is still interrupted: A license may not automatically prevent Content ID enforcement during a live stream. Confirm that the rightsholder has allowlisted your channel and that the permission covers the specific recording and use.
- The finished stream is missing or playback is delayed: Check the broadcast’s archive and DVR settings. YouTube’s API reference says both archive and DVR must be enabled for immediate playback after the broadcast ends; without DVR, archived playback may take around a day to become available.
- The long stream does not provide a complete replay: Use your independent recording and manually upload the archive. YouTube’s production guidance recommends separate recording for streams longer than 12 hours.
- The episode rotation repeats, stalls, or plays the wrong item: Check the playlist order and encoder’s playback or looping behavior, then verify the feed in the Studio preview. Keep a tested restart procedure rather than assuming an indefinite broadcast schedule repairs a stopped source.
