Rights come first: traditional songs or old recordings are not automatically free to rebroadcast, and even licensed music can be interrupted if the relevant rights holder has not allowlisted your channel in Content ID.
1. Clear the music rights before you build the stream
Make a track-by-track rights record before scheduling anything. A folk composition, a particular sound recording, and a performed arrangement can involve different rights holders. Confirm that your permissions cover the exact recordings and performances, YouTube livestreaming, your intended territories, and the planned duration or repeat use. The fact that a song is traditional, old, or performed publicly does not establish that a modern recording or arrangement can be rebroadcast.
YouTube says live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content, including another live broadcast. A detected match can lead to a warning, replacement picture, interruption, termination, or other consequences depending on the circumstances. Read YouTube’s current guidance on copyright issues with live streams.
A license may not prevent an interruption by itself. YouTube says to ask the owner of licensed third-party content to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. This can matter even when the stream is restricted to territories where you have rights. For copyright-protected music, YouTube for Artists recommends coordinating with a label or distributor; that contact does not necessarily clear every composition, recording, performer, territory, or use. Keep a clearance checklist
- Identify the composition and the owner or administrator of its rights.
- Identify the exact sound recording and obtain permission for that recording.
- Confirm permissions for performers or other contributors where applicable.
- Check territory, platform, livestream, and repeat-broadcast scope in writing.
- If the material is licensed and may be managed through Content ID, request allowlisting for your channel and confirm it is in place before launch.
2. Confirm that your channel can go live
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. Its supported streaming methods include mobile, webcam, encoder, and console. For a continuous music program with a designed visual loop, overlays, or a produced audio-video feed, an encoder is the relevant route. Review YouTube’s live-streaming setup requirements and enable live streaming in advance. YouTube for Artists advises enabling a first live stream at least 24 hours before going live; this is advance planning guidance, not a guarantee that every eligibility issue will be resolved in that period.
3. Build a continuous audio-video feed
The Live Control Room configures the YouTube event; the encoder sends the program feed to YouTube. Prepare an audio source containing only cleared music and a video source, such as a static title card or an authorized visual loop. Use encoding software on a computer, or consider a dedicated hardware encoder if you prefer a separate appliance or need a more involved production setup. A hardware encoder is optional, not a YouTube requirement. YouTube describes encoder-based production, while the National Informatics Centre’s webcast service also describes an audio-video setup with an encoder.

Before committing to equipment, decide how the audio and image will be combined, whether you need overlays or other inputs, and how someone will monitor and recover the feed. The cited guidance does not establish a particular computer specification, encoder model, bitrate preset, or reliability level for nonstop broadcasting. Do not treat the NIC’s network figure as a YouTube setting: NIC specifies dedicated bandwidth of 2–4 Mbps per stream for hired-agency feeds on its webcast service page, a context-specific figure rather than a universal YouTube bitrate requirement. 4. Configure the event in YouTube Live Control Room
- Open Live Control Room. Sign in to the channel that passed the eligibility checks and create or schedule a live event using the current YouTube interface.
- Set the event details. Add a clear title and description identifying the Rajasthani folk music program. Choose the audience and visibility settings appropriate to your channel and intended viewers.
- Choose encoder streaming. In the event’s stream settings, obtain the stream key and server information shown by YouTube. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it or share it with anyone who should not control the broadcast.
- Enter the stream details in your encoder. Use YouTube’s server and key exactly as displayed. Configure the encoder for the audio-video feed you prepared, then save the settings securely for the next broadcast.
- Start the feed and verify it. Start sending the program from the encoder and check the Live Control Room preview and status before making the event public or starting it for viewers. Confirm that both sound and picture are present and that the intended event is selected.
YouTube’s current interface and available controls can change, so follow the labels shown in Live Control Room rather than relying on an old screenshot or an assumed menu name.

5. Plan for interruptions and verify continuous operation
A 24/7 goal requires a plan for power, network, encoder, and event-session interruptions. Assign someone to monitor the feed, decide who can restart it, and keep the stream key and recovery steps available to authorized operators. Test the full setup with cleared material before announcing a continuous schedule.
The official guidance cited here describes encoder streaming but does not establish that a single YouTube event can run indefinitely, guarantee automatic reconnection, or promise that a replay will be retained. Check YouTube’s current event-duration and archive behavior for your channel and event, and decide how you will restart or replace a session if it ends. Do not promise viewers a permanent replay unless you have verified that the planned archive behavior supports it.

6. Choose software or hardware encoding
