To run a 24/7 ASMR keyboard channel, record keyboard sounds and visuals you own or are authorized to use, arrange the finished videos into a playlist, and send that playlist to YouTube Live through an encoder. You can run the encoder on a computer that stays powered and connected, or use cloud playout so playback does not depend on your home computer. Neither route guarantees audience growth or monetization; rights, originality, and ongoing monitoring still matter.
What you need before you start
- Original keyboard recordings and visuals you own, or permission that covers live broadcasting and any archived replay.
- A YouTube channel with Live streaming available, plus a stream URL and stream key from YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room.
- A playlist of prepared videos and either an always-on local computer or a cloud playout service.
- A plan to check stream health, handle interruptions, and preserve a local copy if you need an archive.
YouTube’s encoder workflow uses the stream URL and key from the Live Control Room. Keep the stream key private: treat it like a password, and reset it if it is exposed.
How to create the channel and prepare its videos
1. Record a varied library of keyboard sounds
Make distinct sessions rather than relying on one short clip repeated indefinitely. Label each recording with details such as the keyboard or switch configuration and the conditions under which you recorded it. This helps you choose accurate titles and descriptions and build a playlist with deliberate variation. There is no established best microphone, recording technique, or switch type here; listen to sample recordings and choose the sound you want your channel to present.
Use visuals you created or have permission to use. Keep the original master files and a backup so you can replace a damaged upload or produce a separate archive later.

2. Assemble a playlist that feels intentional
Use one prepared video or a sequence of clips. Arrange changes in sound or visual presentation so the channel is not merely a set of interchangeable, minimally varied loops. Give each video a clear title and description that accurately identify what viewers will hear and see. Avoid implying that a stream is live keyboard performance when it is playing pre-recorded material.
3. Clear rights for both the broadcast and replay
YouTube says it scans all live streams for matches to third-party content. A match may cause a placeholder to replace the stream, a warning to stop the material, or a temporary interruption or termination. YouTube also says that even licensed third-party content may need the channel added to the rights owner’s Content ID allowlist, or the live broadcast can be interrupted. See YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.
Use original recordings, or obtain permission that explicitly covers the live broadcast and archive uses. Credit, buying a track, or holding a generic license does not by itself establish that you have the rights YouTube requires. YouTube’s livestream terms put responsibility on the content provider to hold the necessary rights for exploitation of live content, including applicable music rights.

Connect the playlist to YouTube Live
- Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. Create or schedule a live stream using the stream setup flow.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key. Enter both in your chosen encoder or playout service’s YouTube destination settings. YouTube documents this encoder connection in its live streaming encoder setup guide.
- Choose or reuse the stream settings. YouTube allows stream settings to be reused; check that the selected stream and destination are the ones you intend before starting. See YouTube’s stream settings guidance.
- Select the prepared video or playlist in the encoder. Confirm that playback is progressing and that YouTube’s Live Control Room reports a healthy incoming stream before treating the broadcast as running.
- Monitor the dashboard. Check stream health and policy notifications, especially after starting or changing the playlist. Keep access to the encoder or cloud service so you can stop or replace content if needed.
The exact playback controls vary by encoder and cloud provider. Check the chosen service’s current instructions rather than assuming its buttons, file limits, or recovery behavior.
Choose local playback or cloud playout

For either option, decide whether the live experience or a durable video-on-demand archive matters more. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, while streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. It recommends keeping a local archive backup. Very long streams may also have limited or unavailable DVR rewind. See YouTube’s archive guidance and DVR guidance.
Monetization is conditional, not automatic
YouTube lists ads, Super Chat and Super Stickers, and channel memberships as possible live monetization features, subject to channel and feature eligibility. Its help page says ad slots are not guaranteed to serve. A continuous stream does not guarantee revenue, admission to the YouTube Partner Program, or watch-hour eligibility. YouTube’s channel monetization policy applies to live streams and requires original, authentic content; repetitive, generic, or mass-produced work may be ineligible. This review is separate from copyright: having permission to use material does not ensure that a channel passes the reused-content review. Make your recordings and broadcasts meaningfully distinct, show your contribution, and treat eligibility as YouTube’s decision at channel review. The policy’s wording was updated on July 15, 2025, to use “inauthentic content” in place of “repetitious content”; consult the current monetization policy for its present terms.

YouTube does not receive the encoder feed
Check that the encoder has the correct stream URL and key from the intended Live Control Room stream. If the key may have been exposed, reset it and update the encoder before restarting.
The broadcast is interrupted or replaced
Check YouTube’s live dashboard for warnings and review the content for third-party material. A rights match can interrupt a stream even where you believe you have a license; confirm that the permission covers live use and that the rights owner has allowlisted your channel when required.

The stream is live but the archive is missing or incomplete
Check the stream’s duration and YouTube’s archive guidance. A stream over 12 hours may not be captured, and a long broadcast may have limited DVR rewind. Keep a local recording if preserving the full program matters.
The playlist stops when you step away
With a local encoder, the computer, power, or internet connection may have stopped. Check each dependency and your recovery plan. With cloud playout, check the provider’s monitoring, account authorization, and recovery instructions; claims about automatic recovery are provider-specific.
Monetization is unavailable or limited
Check channel and feature eligibility and review YouTube’s monetization decision and policy. A stream’s length or the fact that it is continuously online does not establish eligibility, and permission to use media does not resolve reused-content concerns.
