In the cited Minecraft Java 26.3 Snapshot 3 and Bedrock Preview 26.40.30, craft 3 Hay Bales to get 4 Straw Beds. The Straw Bed lets you sleep through the night without changing your spawn point, but it disappears after one use.
Straw Bed recipe
The recipe documented by Mojang is 3 Hay Bales → 4 Straw Beds. The Java snapshot announcement and Bedrock Preview announcement confirm the ingredient count and output, but do not specify a crafting-grid arrangement in their descriptions. Check the recipe in your installed build rather than relying on a guessed layout.
What a Straw Bed does
The Minecraft Java Team describes it as a bed that can be used “to sleep through the night without setting your spawnpoint.” Unlike an item you keep for repeated use, a Straw Bed is consumed after sleeping: it is destroyed once used. Mojang also says it cannot be used in the Nether or the End; it will be destroyed if you try.

Which Minecraft versions have the recipe?
The documented recipe appears in Minecraft Java 26.3 Snapshot 3 and Minecraft Bedrock Preview 26.40.30, both announced July 7, 2026. These are a Java snapshot and a Bedrock Preview, not confirmation that the feature is available in every stable release or on every platform. If the recipe is missing, check the version and build you have installed.

The Bedrock Preview announcement also says Straw Beds can be found in Abandoned Camps. That location is documented for the cited preview; do not assume it applies to other builds.
Older releases and mods
Older releases may need a mod to add Straw Beds. The Straw Bed Backport is one such mod, and its rules are not the same as the official snapshot behavior: its listing describes safe destruction in the Nether and End. Treat mod behavior as specific to that mod and version, not as a vanilla rule.
