The Razer Hammerhead HyperSpeed for Xbox is the clearest documented wireless earbud option for Xbox One X and Xbox One S: it connects to the console through its included USB wireless dongle. Razer’s compatibility listing does not name the original Xbox One, so check your console revision before buying. If you have the original console, the cited official sources do not establish compatibility for these earbuds.
Which gaming earbuds work with Xbox One?
Razer lists the Hammerhead HyperSpeed for Xbox as compatible with Xbox One X and Xbox One S. That specific listing is the basis for recommending it for those revisions; it does not confirm support for the original Xbox One. Confirm your console model against the manufacturer’s compatibility information before purchasing.
The earbuds use a wireless USB dongle for Xbox audio. Their Bluetooth 5.2 support for compatible devices does not mean they connect to an Xbox One as ordinary Bluetooth earbuds.
How to connect the Razer earbuds to Xbox One X or S
- Connect the included USB-A-to-USB-C adapter cable to the console.
- Connect the USB-C wireless dongle to the adapter cable.
- Set the dongle’s mode switch to XBOX. Razer’s setup guide states: “Set the Earbuds mode switch on the USB Type C wireless dongle to XBOX.”
- Do not connect the dongle to the controller’s USB-C power port; Razer specifies connection to the console.
The included kit lists silicone ear tips in sizes S, M, and L, a charging cable, the USB-A-to-USB-C adapter, and the USB-C dongle.

Battery life and what the figures mean
Razer’s figures are manufacturer-reported maximums, not independent test results. All three listed scenarios were tested with an Xbox Series S at 50% volume, so they should not be read as guaranteed runtime on an Xbox One.

A wired alternative if earbuds are not essential
The Xbox Stereo Headset is an over-ear headset, not earbuds. Xbox says it supports Xbox One and connects to an Xbox Wireless Controller through its 3.5 mm audio jack. Its controller-audio connection is wired, so it does not require a headset battery. Xbox lists 40 mm speakers and a weight of 286 g; the reviewed product page does not display a publication date.
