You can connect WooCommerce and Google Sheets in three main ways: use the dedicated Google Sheets Connector for order and product syncing, use Zapier to add new orders to a sheet, or use a sheet-based workflow to edit products and inventory. Choose based on which data you need, whether changes must flow back into WooCommerce, and how much setup and review your workflow requires.
Choose the right WooCommerce-to-Sheets connection
| Option | Best for | Data and direction | Timing and setup |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google Sheets Connector | Order and product synchronization | Orders and products can sync to Sheets; optional two-way updates are available when enabled and pulled. | Real-time order sync on status changes, scheduled sync, or manual actions. Requires Google Cloud OAuth and WooCommerce configuration. |
| Zapier | Adding new orders to spreadsheet rows | WooCommerce order fields are mapped to columns in a selected Google Sheet. | Set up the WooCommerce connection, select the spreadsheet and worksheet, map fields, save, and test the Zap. The documented recipe is for capturing new orders, not full catalog sync or explicit sheet-to-store updates. |
| Sheet-based product and stock workflows | Editing products or inventory in a sheet | Fetch products into Sheets and sync edits back, or match supplier rows to products for stock and price updates. | Use dry runs and review matches before confirming changes or enabling a schedule. |
WooCommerce’s Google Sheets Connector documentation describes the broadest direct integration. The Zapier instructions cover a narrower new-order logging flow. Product editing and supplier stock workflows have separate guidance in WooCommerce’s Stock Sync Sheets documentation and bulk product workflow documentation.
Set up the dedicated Google Sheets Connector
This route involves configuring Google API access and authorizing the connector to use a spreadsheet. Google API activation may take up to five minutes, according to WooCommerce’s setup documentation.
- Create or select a Google Cloud project. In Google Cloud, enable the Google Sheets API for that project.
- Configure OAuth access. Create a web OAuth client and enter the redirect URL specified in the connector’s WooCommerce setup instructions. Copy the client ID and client secret. If Google Auth requires test users, add the account you will use to authorize the connection.
- Create the target spreadsheet. Copy its spreadsheet ID from the URL: it is the text between
/d/and/edit. - Enter the connection details in WooCommerce. Open the Google Sheets Connector settings, provide the OAuth credentials and spreadsheet ID, save, then connect the Google account when prompted.
- Configure what to synchronize. Choose order or product sync, select and map the fields you need, and set filters or a schedule as appropriate.
- Test and inspect the result. Use the connector’s connection checks, manual sync actions, and logs to verify that the expected records and columns are being used.
Choose a sync timing
For orders, the connector documents real-time syncing when an order’s status changes, as well as scheduled options of every 15 minutes, hourly, twice daily, or daily. It also offers status filtering and manual actions, including syncing the last 100 orders or forcing a resync. Product sync has its own actions and configuration. Pick the timing that matches how fresh the sheet needs to be rather than assuming every workflow is instantaneous.

Understand what two-way sync means
Exporting records to Sheets and pulling edits from Sheets are distinct actions. The connector offers optional two-way order and product updates, but enabling the setting alone is not the same as completing a pull: enable the relevant option, map the permitted fields, and run the corresponding pull action. Before write-back, check that the target sheet is correct and that only fields intended to change in WooCommerce are mapped.
Protect sheet data before clearing it
Do not use the connector’s “Clear Sheet Data” action unless you are certain the synced data can be removed. WooCommerce warns: “This action permanently deletes data from the Google Sheet and cannot be undone.”
Use Zapier to add new orders as sheet rows
If your goal is an order log rather than product catalog management or editing WooCommerce from Sheets, use the documented Zapier workflow:
- Connect WooCommerce to Zapier and select the new-order trigger for the workflow.
- Connect Google Sheets, then select the spreadsheet and worksheet that should receive orders.
- Map the WooCommerce order fields to the matching sheet columns.
- Save the Zap and test it so you can check that a new order produces the expected row and values.
This documented setup is for capturing new orders in rows. It should not be treated as equivalent to the dedicated connector’s product synchronization or its explicit pull actions for sheet-to-store updates.

Edit products or inventory from a sheet safely
Sheet-based product work is different from maintaining an order log. WooCommerce documents fetching existing products into a Google Sheet and syncing edits back through its bulk product workflow. Its Stock Sync Sheets guidance covers stock quantity, stock status, regular and sale prices, supplier sheets, and product creation or updates.
- Set up the stock synchronization workflow first. Decide which sheet columns correspond to the WooCommerce fields you intend to change.
- Run a dry run. Inspect the proposed matches and updates before they affect the store.
- Resolve manual-review matches. Product identifiers or supplier rows can match the wrong item; review ambiguous matches rather than accepting them blindly.
- Confirm the matches. Only proceed once the spreadsheet rows point to the intended products.
- Enable scheduling only after validation. Once mappings and matches are confirmed, configure the recurring workflow if needed.
These checks matter most when a sheet is acting as an input to WooCommerce: an incorrect match can alter the wrong product’s stock or pricing. Keep write-back limited to the fields your process is designed to maintain.

Google for WooCommerce sends product feeds to Google Merchant Center; it is not the Sheets connection described here. Products and Orders Sync is for synchronizing data among WooCommerce stores, not for connecting a store to Google Sheets.
What to choose
- Choose the dedicated connector when you need WooCommerce order and product data in Sheets, scheduled or status-change syncing, or optional controlled write-back.
- Choose Zapier when the practical need is to place new orders into spreadsheet rows with mapped fields and a test step.
- Use the sheet-based product or stock workflow when people will edit catalog or inventory data in Sheets, and validate matches before enabling recurring updates.
These workflows have different scopes and safeguards; WooCommerce’s setup documentation describes their features but does not establish an independent head-to-head performance test.
