To connect Google Analytics to a site in manual mode, copy the GA4 web stream’s Measurement ID, add it under the editor’s Integrations settings, then update the live site. Check the GA4 Realtime report while visiting the published site to confirm that it is collecting visits.

Before you start: use a GA4 web stream

This workflow applies to the site builder’s manual mode; the documented navigation should not be assumed to apply to agentic mode. You need access to the correct Google Analytics property and its website web stream.

The setup guide recommends Google Analytics 4 (GA4). Its help page says Universal Analytics stopped processing data on July 1, 2023, so it is not a current setup path. Google’s current instructions say a Measurement ID begins with G- or AW-; the GA4 integration instructions use the G- format. Google explains how to find your Google tag ID.

1. Find the website’s Measurement ID

  1. Sign in to Google Analytics and open Admin.
  2. Select the property that belongs to the site you want to track.
  3. Choose Data streams, then open that website’s web stream.
  4. Copy the Measurement ID shown in the stream details. Check that the stream is for the intended website before using the ID.

Google’s instructions for locating the ID are in Google Analytics Help. The builder’s GA4 integration requires only the Measurement ID.

2. Add the ID in the site builder

  1. Open the site in the editor.
  2. Open More (⋯) → Integrations.
  3. Find the Google Analytics field and paste the Measurement ID.
  4. Save the integration, then update or publish the website so the change is applied to the live site.

In manual mode, integration changes must be pushed to the website by updating it. Save the ID, then update or publish the site.

3. Confirm that tracking is live

  1. Open the published website in a browser tab and visit a page.
  2. In another tab, open the property’s Realtime report in Google Analytics.
  3. Look for activity associated with your visit.

Google says data collection may take up to 30 minutes to begin. Initial reports may take up to 24 hours to arrive. These are separate timing estimates from the respective help pages, not guarantees that a visit will appear within an exact window. See Google’s setup guidance.

If Google Analytics shows no activity

  • Check the property and stream. Make sure the ID entered in the builder matches the website’s web stream, not another property or site.
  • Confirm the site was updated. Saving the ID in the editor is not enough; update or publish the site to apply the change.
  • Allow time for collection. Check Realtime, but account for Google’s up-to-30-minute startup guidance and the estimate of up to 24 hours for initial reports.
  • Review the cookie-banner setting. The builder advises enabling a cookie banner for tracking scripts to work properly. This is product guidance, not a universal statement about legal requirements; consent obligations depend on the site and its audience.

When to use built-in Analytics instead

The manual-mode Analytics view provides a basic overview of sessions over time, by country, and by device; the site must be published before data appears. The built-in feature is described as using its Cloudflare CDN without cookies or third-party integrations. That description applies to the built-in tool, not to Google Analytics, and is not legal advice.

Option What it is for Setup
Built-in Analytics A platform-level overview of sessions over time, by country, and by device. Use the builder’s Analytics view; publish the site for data to appear.
Google Analytics 4 More detailed tracking, including user behavior and conversion events. Connect a GA4 web stream by entering its Measurement ID in Integrations and updating the site.

The two options serve different needs; the builder does not establish that they have identical features or measurement accuracy. See the integrations documentation for its description of built-in analytics and third-party integrations.
