You can use many Slack integrations on Android, but Slack’s documented process for installing an app is performed from a desktop workspace. First add the app to the workspace, then connect any required third-party account; after that, use the integration’s available tabs, shortcuts, or channel features in Slack on your phone. The controls vary by app, so installing one does not guarantee that every feature works on Android.
Can you install a Slack app from Android?
Slack’s current help instructions describe adding an app from desktop, not a general install flow in the Slack Android app. Use a desktop browser or Slack desktop app to install the integration, then open Slack on Android to use the features the integration makes available there. For published workflows, Slack documents a mobile discovery path: Search → Workflows.
Slack says its Marketplace has more than 2,000 apps in its app guide, but that is Slack’s own page statement, not an independent count or a guarantee that every app supports Android. The cited guidance does not provide a universal Android compatibility list. Slack’s app guide explains app discovery and use; its Workflow Builder guide describes finding workflows on mobile.
How to add an app to your Slack workspace
1. Check whether your workspace allows installations
Slack says members can install apps by default, but workspace owners or admins can restrict installs or require approval. If Slack offers a request option instead of installation, submit the request with a clear business reason and wait for an owner or app manager to review it. Some restricted apps may not be requestable. See Slack’s app installation instructions for the current approval flow.

2. Find and add the app from desktop
- In Slack on desktop, open Agents & tools in the sidebar. Depending on the workspace, the entry may appear under More or Tools.
- Select Apps, then search for the integration you want.
- Choose the app and click Add, then Add to Slack.
- Review the requested access and follow the prompts. If approval is required, submit the request instead of assuming the app has been installed.
Slack’s interface labels can vary between workspaces. If the app is already installed, Slack may show an option to connect an account rather than install it again.
Connect the service account the app needs
Adding an app to a workspace does not necessarily connect every member’s account at the external service. Open the app’s available Home or Messages tab, or follow its setup prompts, and authenticate when asked. Some integrations also need to be placed in a channel or mentioned in a message before members can use them.

Workflow Builder connector steps have a separate authentication requirement: the relevant third-party account must be connected, and additional approval or configuration may be needed. Depending on how the workflow is set up, each person who runs it can authenticate their own account, or the creator may permit use of the creator’s credentials. Follow the connector’s prompts and check which account is being used before relying on a workflow. See Slack’s instructions for authenticating accounts for connector steps and creating workflows.

Once the workspace app and any required account are connected, open Slack on your Android phone and use the integration’s available controls. Depending on the app, these may include a Home or Messages tab, shortcuts, channel features, or commands that require mentioning the app in a channel. The exact mobile experience is determined by the integration; there is no source-supported feature list covering all Slack apps on Android.

To find a published workflow in the Android app, use Search → Workflows, then select and run a workflow available to you. This mobile route is for discovering and running published workflows; it does not establish that app installation or full workflow authoring is supported in Android.
Choose the right kind of integration

Review permissions and disconnect accounts when needed
Before installing an app, read its Marketplace privacy policy and any security or compliance information its developer has provided. Pay particular attention to permission scopes: they describe what information an app may access and what actions it may take, such as reading messages or files, posting or changing content, or creating channels. Slack says Marketplace apps receive review for user experience and security; an app outside the Marketplace displays a notice that Slack has not reviewed it. Workspace installation and a member’s external account connection are distinct access decisions. If you need to disconnect an account used by a Workflow Builder connector, Slack’s documented route is desktop Preferences → Connected accounts.
