For the Logitech G29, set the Platform Mode switch to PS4 before connecting the wheel. The switch is on the top of the wheel’s inner frame, just behind the RPM indicator lights. These instructions are specific to the G29; check the setup guidance for your exact model if you have a different Logitech wheel.
Connect a Logitech G29 to PS4
- Set the platform mode: Move the Platform Mode switch on the top of the wheel’s inner frame, behind the RPM indicator lights, to PS4. Logitech says to select the gaming platform before connecting the G29. Logitech’s G29 platform setup instructions.
- Make the cable connections: Follow the setup instructions included with your G29 for connecting its pedals and other cables. For troubleshooting, Logitech advises plugging the wheel’s power cable directly into a power outlet and connecting the wheel to a PS4 USB port without a hub. Logitech G29 support and troubleshooting.
- Open a compatible game: Whether the wheel’s buttons and accessories work depends on the game supporting them; console compatibility alone does not guarantee that every control works in every title. See Logitech’s G29 product information.
If the PS4 does not recognize the wheel
Work through Logitech’s troubleshooting checks:
- Plug the wheel’s power cable directly into a power outlet.
- Connect the wheel directly to a different USB port on the PS4. Avoid a USB hub or similar device.
- Check the cables and confirm that the Platform Mode switch is set to PS4.
- Check for updates to the PS4 system software and the game.
- Review the console and in-game settings.
- Try another game or console. Logitech also suggests testing the wheel on a computer.
These checks come from Logitech’s G29 troubleshooting guidance.
Compatibility and optional shifter
Logitech lists the G29 as compatible with PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 3. That is console-level compatibility; individual games still determine whether the wheel’s buttons and accessories are supported. Check Logitech’s compatibility information and the game’s documentation.

The Logitech Driving Force Shifter is optional, not necessary to connect the wheel. Logitech lists the G29 and a game that supports the shifter as requirements, and lists PlayStation 4 as a supported platform. Logitech also says the shifter does not function on PS3. See the Driving Force Shifter specifications.
