To connect a 24/7 cloud streaming service to a YouTube Brand Account, make sure the channel can livestream, grant any necessary channel access through YouTube Studio, then give the service the stream URL and key from YouTube’s Live Control Room—or follow its documented direct-authorization flow. Brand Account status does not change how YouTube receives an encoder feed, but it does affect how you should delegate access: use YouTube channel permissions rather than sharing a Google Account password.
Before you connect a cloud service
Check the channel’s livestream eligibility
Use the YouTube channel that will host the 24/7 feed. YouTube’s current live-streaming eligibility guidance requires channel verification and no live-stream restriction during the previous 90 days. YouTube also says first-time livestream activation can take up to 24 hours, and its current guidance sets a minimum age of 16 for livestreaming. Check the channel’s status in YouTube Studio before scheduling a launch; the platform’s requirements and interface can change.
Choose the channel, not just the Google login
A Google Account can manage more than one YouTube channel. Before granting access or copying a stream key, confirm that the selected channel is the Brand Account channel you intend to stream on. A mistaken channel selection can send the feed to the wrong audience.

Set up Brand Account access safely
YouTube recommends using channel permissions to delegate channel work rather than sharing the Google Account password. The owner can manage access in YouTube Studio; consult YouTube’s current channel-permissions guidance for migration and role details.

- Use the channel’s permissions to add a person who needs to configure or manage the stream.
- Grant only the access level that the person or service’s documented workflow requires, and remove access when it is no longer needed.
- Do not assume every cloud provider requires the same YouTube role. YouTube’s general guidance does not specify the role required by each third-party service.
- If a provider offers direct YouTube authorization, follow its current instructions and verify the channel selected in the authorization flow. Do not provide your Google Account password to a third party.
Connect the cloud encoder to YouTube
YouTube’s Live Control Room provides the stream destination URL and stream key used by an encoder. A cloud service may either request these fields or offer a direct YouTube authorization flow; the precise screens depend on the provider.
- Open YouTube Studio and select the correct channel. Go to the Live Control Room and create a livestream or select the stream you intend to use for the continuous feed.
- Get the ingest details. In the stream settings, copy the stream URL (destination) and stream key shown for that stream. YouTube describes stream keys as “like your YouTube stream’s password and address” in its live-stream settings guidance.
- Enter the details in the cloud service. If it presents encoder fields, paste the URL and key into the corresponding destination and key fields. If it uses direct authorization instead, follow its provider documentation and confirm the Brand Account channel before approving access.
- Choose RTMPS if the service supports it. Use the RTMPS destination provided in Live Control Room rather than substituting a URL. YouTube explains that RTMPS is RTMP over a TLS/SSL connection and provides encryption; see its RTMPS guidance.
- Start the cloud stream and check YouTube’s preview. Confirm that the expected video and audio appear in Live Control Room before relying on the ongoing feed.
- Check public playback. Open the channel or event watch page as a viewer and verify that the stream is accessible and playing as intended.
Treat the stream key as a credential. Keep it private, do not put it in a public post or screenshot, and reset it in YouTube Studio if it is exposed. A key lets an encoder send video to the associated stream; it is not a substitute for carefully controlling Brand Account access.

Test the 24/7 feed and clear playlist rights
Verify picture, sound, and continuity
YouTube recommends setting up the encoder in advance and monitoring stream quality. Its streaming tips recommend leaving 20% upload-bandwidth headroom. That is YouTube guidance, not a guarantee of continuous availability from any particular cloud provider. Check the preview and viewer-facing playback, including audio, before depending on the stream.
Confirm rights for every item
You are responsible for having the necessary rights to all video and audio in the feed, including music. YouTube scans livestreams for third-party content, and a stream may be interrupted even when you have a license if the rights holder has not allowlisted your channel through Content ID. Review YouTube’s livestream terms and its Content ID guidance. Check every playlist item, not just the video that starts the stream.

Troubleshooting connection problems
- The channel cannot start a livestream: verify channel status and verification in YouTube Studio, check for a livestream restriction in the previous 90 days, and allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation.
- The feed appears on a different channel: stop the encoder, confirm the Brand Account channel selected in YouTube Studio and in any provider authorization flow, then use the intended stream’s own destination and key.
- YouTube receives no feed: check that the cloud service is running, the destination and key were copied correctly, and the key belongs to the selected stream. If the key may have been exposed, reset it and update the service with the replacement.
- The encoder cannot connect over RTMPS: confirm that the cloud service supports RTMPS and that you entered the matching RTMPS destination from Live Control Room. Do not assume a provider supports the protocol if it does not say so.
- The preview works but viewers cannot watch: check the event’s visibility and viewer-facing watch page, then confirm the stream has actually started and is not blocked or interrupted.
- The stream is interrupted over copyrighted material: review rights for the specific audio and video and ask the rights holder about Content ID allowlisting where applicable. A license alone may not prevent an interruption if the channel is not allowlisted.
