In OBS Studio, add two separate Text sources—one for your church name and one for the Bible verse—then place them above the sermon video in the Sources list and position them in the preview. For Hindi, choose a font with Devanagari coverage and verify the exact passage in the actual scene before going live.
Add the church name and verse as OBS text sources
- Open the scene you use for the sermon, or create a dedicated scene for it.
- In the Sources dock, select + and add a Text source. Name it “Church name,” choose a font and color, and enter the church’s exact name.
- Add another Text source and name it “Bible verse.” Enter the reference and passage. If the verse will change between services, enable the source’s Read from file option and point it to a text file that you can update.
- In the Sources dock, make sure both text sources sit above the camera or video source they should overlay. Select each text source and drag it into place in the preview; use its handles to resize it.
- Preview the scene at the size and aspect ratio used for the stream. Check the full Hindi passage, including conjuncts, matras, punctuation, line breaks, scaling, and legibility.
OBS describes text sources as a way to add “simple text renders to your stream or recording layout.” Its source order determines which items appear on top, and sources can be positioned and resized in the preview. See the OBS Text Sources guide and Sources guide.
Choose a font that can render Hindi
Use a font with Devanagari glyphs. Google Fonts metadata lists Noto Sans Devanagari UI as including a Devanagari subset and supporting Hindi, making it a reasonable option to test. The metadata identifies script coverage; it does not confirm that the font is installed on your computer or guarantee how a particular OBS build will render your passage.

If the font is missing from OBS’s font picker, make it available to the operating system, then close and reopen OBS and check again. Before streaming, inspect the exact verse in the scene and, if possible, in a short test recording or private stream. Look for missing characters, separated marks, unexpected wrapping, or text that becomes difficult to read over the camera image. Google Fonts’ listing is available for Noto Sans Devanagari.

Make the overlays readable without obscuring the sermon
- Place the church name in a consistent corner or a narrow lower-third area.
- Give the verse its own clear area so it does not compete with the church identifier or cover a speaker’s face.
- Check contrast against the actual camera image. A restrained backing panel can help when the background changes, but preview it in the stream scene rather than judging it against a static desktop.
- Test at the output size viewers will see. Small text that looks clear in the OBS preview may be hard to read on a phone.
These are layout recommendations, not required OBS settings. Your camera framing, output resolution, and passage length determine the best placement and size.
When to use a Browser Source instead
For a simple, mostly static name and verse, built-in Text sources are the shortest route. A Browser Source is useful when you need an HTML/CSS design, a remote overlay, or a separate control panel for changing content. OBS can load a local file or a specified URL in a Browser Source, with viewport width and height settings. Its guide notes that custom CSS defaults to a transparent background, which suits overlays. Choose based on the workflow and dependencies: a Text source can contain directly typed text or read a local file; a Browser Source can depend on a local page, online page, or other web content. A local file avoids depending on a URL being reachable, while an online overlay needs that URL and its content to be available. This is an operational distinction, not a measured reliability comparison.

The OBS forum lists a Firstfruits Studio Bible Plugin as a Bible solution designed for OBS and describes using it through a browser-source link. Treat it as an optional route: the listing does not establish whether it supports your Hindi translation, is currently maintained, or permits retransmission of that translation. Verify those points before relying on it.

Check permission to display the Hindi translation
Confirm the exact translation’s terms with the church or rights holder before showing its text on a public livestream. Translation rights are not interchangeable. The Bible Society of India EULA permits personal, non-commercial, spiritual, and educational platform use, while prohibiting copying, modifying, reproducing, or distributing content without prior written permission and prohibiting commercial use without consent. Do not assume another translation has the same terms.
As a different, version-specific example, the Indian Revised Version Hindi PDF on eBible.org states that users have permission to share and redistribute that translation. Read the PDF’s complete license statement for conditions and attribution. That permission applies to that version, not to other translations.
