In Destiny 2, “weekly challenge” can mean the rotating Ascendant Challenge activity, while Petra Venj’s weekly bounties and quests are separate objectives. Check Petra’s current bounty text in the Dreaming City before setting out: the exact active challenge and live objectives for October 4, 2026, are not established here, and the offerings rotate.
Check Petra’s current weekly offerings
Visit Petra Venj in the Dreaming City and read each bounty’s objective and reward before starting. A 2018 Bungie Help forum reply by BNGHelp6 distinguished two weekly bounties—Ascendant Challenge completion and Blind Well completions, under the name Gateway Between Worlds—from separate quests for a story mission and daily-bounty completions. That is historical guidance, not a guarantee of Petra’s current inventory; use the vendor screen for the live version.

Petra’s Dreaming City bounties cannot be purchased through the Destiny Companion app’s mobile bounty-purchase feature, according to Bungie’s support guidance. Pick them up from Petra in-game. Once acquired, bounties appear in the Director’s Quest tab.

Complete Petra’s Ascendant Challenge bounty
- Pick up the current bounty from Petra. Read its objective and Toland quotation, which can hint at the challenge location. Do not assume a bounty carried from an earlier week matches the current rotation.
- Use a Tincture of Queensfoil. This in-game consumable reveals the Ascendant portal. The activity is a weekly rotating Dreaming City challenge, but its active location changes.
- Enter the portal and complete the challenge. Follow the objective in the current bounty and open the reward chest at the end.
- Check progress in the Quest tab. Compare the counter and objective with Petra’s current bounty text rather than relying on an old description of the activity.
If the bounty does not progress, compare its wording with the one Petra is offering now. A 2019 Bungie forum response described a mismatch when a bounty from the previous week was carried into a different challenge location; the responder advised discarding the stale bounty and collecting the newly offered one. This is community troubleshooting, so confirm the current behavior in-game before abandoning a bounty.
#1 Best Overall
- From the makers of the acclaimed hit game Destiny, comes the much-anticipated sequel
- An action shooter that takes you on an epic journey across the solar system
- Humanity’s last safe city has fallen to an overwhelming invasion force, led by Ghaul, the imposing commander of the brutal Red Legion
- To defeat the Red Legion and confront Ghaul, you must reunite humanity’s scattered heroes, stand together, and fight back to reclaim our home
Complete Gateway Between Worlds in Blind Well
Gateway Between Worlds is associated with Blind Well activity completions. The community activity database describes it as rewarding an Offering to the Oracle, but the exact counter and reward shown on a current bounty should take precedence over older descriptions.
- Pick up Gateway Between Worlds from Petra if it is currently available.
- Complete Blind Well activities and check the bounty counter as you go.
- Claim the listed reward after the objective is complete.
The Blind Well bounty and Ascendant Challenge bounty are different paths, not substitutes: follow the activity named in the specific bounty or Triumph you are trying to finish.

Tell Ascendant Challenge chests apart from Ascendant Chests
Opening the final chest in an Ascendant Challenge does not necessarily count toward a separate Dreaming City Triumph for Ascendant Chests. In a July 2026 Bungie forum thread, a player reported completing Ascendant Challenges with Queensfoil and a weekly bounty while a three-chest Triumph remained at zero. A responder explained that the Triumph tracked Ascendant Chests found around the Dreaming City, not the reward chests inside the challenge. The responder also said those chests are grouped according to curse state.

Quick comparison of the two weekly bounty paths
| Bounty | Activity | Key check |
|---|---|---|
| Ascendant Challenge | Find and complete the rotating Ascendant Challenge after revealing its portal with Tincture of Queensfoil. | Make sure the bounty is the current one for the challenge location; use Petra’s live wording and Toland clue. |
| Gateway Between Worlds | Complete Blind Well activities. | Follow the current bounty counter and reward, rather than an older exact objective description. |
The comparison reflects historical vendor guidance and community activity descriptions. Petra’s current inventory and objective text are the authority for what is available now.
