Compare Hindi and Marathi bhajan streams over the same dates, then report three figures: net subscribers gained, net subscribers gained per 1,000 views, and net growth as a percentage of the starting subscriber count. The last two are calculations—not official YouTube metrics. Use live-specific analytics where available, and treat watch time, viewing duration, concurrent viewers, and uptime as context rather than substitutes for subscriber growth.

Set up a fair comparison

Choose the channels and observation window

Name the channels and explain how you selected them. Confirm that each channel ran a continuous 24/7 stream during the period, or state which live sessions you sampled. Choose identical start and end dates, use the same time zone, and make the periods equal in length.

Record each channel’s other activity during the window: regular uploads, Shorts, and any relevant changes in posting cadence or promotion. Those can affect whole-channel subscriber totals even when the bhajan stream is unchanged.

Use comparable data

YouTube Studio provides channel-level subscriber, view, and watch-time reporting, and Advanced Mode supports comparisons and exports. See YouTube’s guide to getting started with Analytics. Save or export the reports used, and state whether the figures came from channel owners’ Studio accounts or from public observations.

Owner access matters: it can provide live-specific subscriber attribution and additional audience metrics. Publicly visible channel totals generally cannot establish how many subscribers a particular stream brought in.

Collect subscriber growth and viewing context

Subscriber measures

  • Starting subscribers: the channel’s count at the beginning of the window.
  • Ending subscribers: the count at the end of the same window.
  • Net subscriber change: ending count minus starting count, when both counts are available. If a report supplies gains but not losses, label the result as subscribers gained rather than net change.
  • Live-attributed subscribers: subscriber gains attributed to live content, when available in the owner’s analytics. Keep this separate from whole-channel growth.

Views and live delivery

Collect views, total watch time, average view duration, average concurrent viewers, peak concurrent viewers, and stream hours or uptime for the same window where available. YouTube documents live reporting for views, watch time, average view duration, and peak concurrent viewers in its live-stream metrics guide. Content analytics also provide reporting by content type, including subscriber attribution and live discovery sources such as Browse, Search, Suggested videos, and channel pages; geographic reporting may be limited. See YouTube’s content-performance guide.

Average and peak concurrent viewers describe different things: the peak is the maximum at a moment, not evidence that the audience stayed at that level or subscribed. Watch time and average view duration help explain viewing depth; uptime helps show how much opportunity each stream had to attract viewers.

Calculate and report comparable rates

Alongside absolute subscriber change, calculate these two rates yourself. They are useful comparison measures, not named YouTube metrics:

  1. Subscriber change per 1,000 views: net subscriber change ÷ views × 1,000.
  2. Growth relative to starting subscribers: net subscriber change ÷ starting subscribers × 100.

Show the raw subscriber change beside each rate. A rate can make channels of different sizes easier to compare, but a small denominator can make a small channel’s percentage look dramatic while concealing the scale of its gains. Identify whether the numerator is net change or gains only; do not mix the two.

Build the comparison table

Use the same dates and definitions for every channel. A table like this keeps scale, conversion, attribution, and viewing context distinct:

Measure Hindi channel Marathi channel
Observation dates and time zone Enter the selected window Enter the same window
Starting subscribers Enter observed or Studio figure Enter observed or Studio figure
Ending subscribers Enter observed or Studio figure Enter observed or Studio figure
Net change (or gains only, if losses are unavailable) Enter figure and label Enter figure and label
Change per 1,000 views (calculated) Enter calculation Enter calculation
Change as percentage of starting subscribers (calculated) Enter calculation Enter calculation
Live-attributed subscriber gains Enter if owner analytics provide it; otherwise not available from the data used Enter if owner analytics provide it; otherwise not available from the data used
Views and total watch time Enter figures for the window Enter figures for the window
Average view duration; average and peak concurrent viewers Enter available figures Enter available figures
Stream hours or uptime Enter figure and measurement method Enter figure and measurement method

When possible, compare traffic-source and geography dimensions on the same basis. If an owner report does not provide a dimension, say so rather than treating missing data as zero.

Account for the change in YouTube’s view definition

YouTube’s content-performance documentation says that from August 24, 2026, a view is counted when playback starts across Shorts, long-form videos, and live streams. It also says this change does not alter YouTube Partner Program earnings or eligibility, which continue to use engaged or qualified measures. If your comparison crosses that date, flag the definition change and avoid presenting view-based rates as directly comparable without qualification. The policy is described in YouTube’s content-performance documentation.

Interpret the result without overclaiming

  • Use absolute net gain to answer how many subscribers each channel added or lost.
  • Use the two calculated rates to compare growth against views and starting audience size, while retaining the raw figures.
  • Use live-attributed gains to discuss the stream itself only when owner analytics support that attribution; whole-channel change can include other content.
  • Use watch time, average view duration, concurrency, and uptime to explain audience delivery, not as proof of subscriber conversion.
  • Do not claim that Hindi or Marathi caused a difference from channel totals. Channels can differ in age, promotion, catalog, stream availability, posting cadence, audience overlap, and initial size. The result describes the selected channels and period, not a language-wide pattern.

YouTube Analytics documentation describes available reports and measures; the YouTube Analytics API documentation is a reference for report dimensions and metrics, not a substitute for the channel owner’s actual data. See Google for Developers’ YouTube Analytics API documentation.
