The Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 is the more capable processor on paper and leads the available benchmark sample. It has higher listed CPU clocks, newer wireless features, and higher camera and display ceilings. The Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 is also a 4 nm, 5G-capable platform with LPDDR5 support, aimed at everyday use in more affordable phones. Which phone is the better buy still depends on its price and implementation, not just the chip.
Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 vs. 7s Gen 4 at a glance

These are Qualcomm’s advertised platform features, not a guarantee that a particular phone includes every capability. Phone makers choose what to implement, and cellular bands or carrier certification can vary by model and market. Qualcomm lists the Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 platform specifications and the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 Product Brief.
Which processor is faster?
The 7s Gen 4 has the stronger listed CPU configuration: one core can reach 2.7 GHz, compared with the 4 Gen 4’s listed maximum of 2.3 GHz. It also specifies separate prime, performance and efficiency cores. Qualcomm’s retrieved 4 Gen 4 information does not provide a full core breakdown, so the clock figures alone are not a complete measure of how two phones will perform.
The benchmark figures reported by 91mobiles also favor the 7s Gen 4:
#1 Best Overall
- Brilliant OLED Display – Incredible image quality – The 13" PixelSense touchscreen[1], with optional OLED and HDR[2] tech, gives you sharp detail, smooth scrolling, and colors so richly saturated bringing vivid life into every frame - perfect for work, school, streaming, and creative tasks.
- Up to 15.5 hours of battery life[3] - The new Surface Pro is designed for long days, late nights and everything in between.
- Work at the speed of your ideas – Built with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon X2 Elite (12 Core) processors, Surface Pro delivers fast, AI‑accelerated performance—making it the most powerful Surface laptop for everything from multitasking to demanding workloads.
- The ports you need – Charge on-the-go, transfer data fast, or create the ultimate desktop set up with two USB-C / USB4[4] ports.
- Built-in AI Companion – Work smarter, create freely, and communicate with confidence—Copilot[5] on Windows 11 is always there to help.
| Benchmark | Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 | Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 |
|---|---|---|
| AnTuTu | 622,466 | 1,176,492 |
| Geekbench single-core | 955 | 1,280 |
| Geekbench multi-core | 2,333 | 3,475 |
These are 91mobiles’ displayed sample results, not universal scores for every phone with either chip. The same 91mobiles page also shows an AnTuTu score of 626,958 for the 4 Gen 4 in one place, so its reported 4 Gen 4 AnTuTu result is inconsistent. Treat the figures as a directional comparison rather than a promise of a particular score or real-world speed.
Benchmarks do not establish which phone will sustain gaming performance or last longer on a charge. Cooling, memory, software and other handset design choices affect the result; no controlled same-phone comparison establishes a definitive winner for sustained gaming or battery life.

What the feature differences mean in a phone
Gaming and display
The 7s Gen 4 lists support for WFHD+ displays up to 144 Hz, HDR gaming and Vulkan 1.3, compared with the 4 Gen 4’s listed display capability up to 120 FPS and Vulkan 1.1. That gives the 7s Gen 4 higher advertised display and graphics-feature ceilings. It does not mean every phone using it has a 144 Hz screen or will hold high frame rates in demanding games; the handset’s display and cooling matter.
Photos and video
Qualcomm lists up to 200 MP photo capture and 4K HDR video capture for the 7s Gen 4. The 4 Gen 4 platform information emphasizes up to 36 MP camera capability, multi-frame noise reduction and low-light features. These specifications describe platform support, not image quality: the camera sensors, lenses, processing choices and software in the phone determine what its camera can actually do.

Mobile and wireless connectivity
Qualcomm lists peak 5G downlink rates of up to 2.5 Gbps for the 4 Gen 4 and up to 2.9 Gbps for the 7s Gen 4. These are theoretical platform maxima, not typical everyday speeds. The 7s Gen 4 also lists mmWave and sub-6 GHz 5G, Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.4; the 4 Gen 4 lists sub-6 GHz 5G, Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.1. Whether a phone supports particular bands or wireless features depends on its model, market and manufacturer.
Memory and efficiency
Both platforms use a 4 nm process, but that label by itself does not show that they use the same power in a phone or deliver the same battery life. The 4 Gen 4 supports LPDDR5. The 7s Gen 4 brief lists LPDDR5 up to 3200 MHz and LPDDR4X, with up to 16 GB density; the phone maker’s actual RAM configuration still matters.

Which one should you choose?
Choose a Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 phone if
- You want the stronger listed CPU configuration and the lead in the available benchmark sample.
- Higher advertised display, gaming, camera or video capabilities matter to you.
- You need the newer listed Wi-Fi and Bluetooth features, and the specific phone supports them in your market.
A Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 phone may suit you if
- You mainly use everyday apps and 5G, and a phone with this chip costs less.
- You want an efficient-use platform with LPDDR5 support but do not need the 7s Gen 4’s higher listed feature ceilings.
Compare the actual phones before deciding: price, RAM and storage, cooling, screen, battery, camera implementation, software support and carrier-band compatibility can change which model makes sense. Specifications for a processor are not a substitute for checking the complete handset.
