To compare two captures fairly, take them in Chrome with the same page state, viewport width and height, device pixel ratio (DPR), and capture type. Use Chrome DevTools to save each screenshot, then open the files side by side—or use an image viewer that supports overlays or pixel-difference views.

Set up matching captures in Chrome

  1. Record the first page state. Open the Hindi website in Chrome and note the URL, date, and anything that could affect the image, such as whether a menu is open. Use the same page state for the second capture.
  2. Open DevTools and enable Device Toolbar. In Chrome, open DevTools, then turn on the Device Toolbar. Chrome’s device mode documentation explains its viewport and device controls.
  3. Set the viewport. Enter a specific width and height, and record both values so you can reuse them. Different viewport dimensions can change responsive layout and text wrapping.
  4. Set DPR consistently. Use the same device pixel ratio for both captures, especially if you are comparing captures made in separate sessions or on different machines. DPR is the ratio between physical screen pixels and logical CSS pixels; it affects how Chrome draws CSS pixels on high-DPI displays.
  5. Choose what to capture. Open the Device Toolbar’s More options menu and select Capture screenshot for the visible viewport, or Capture a full size screenshot for the entire page. Use the same option both times.
  6. Repeat for the second version. Keep the Chrome and Windows environment, viewport, DPR, page state, and capture type consistent where possible. Save both image files with names that identify the version or capture date.

Choose viewport or full-page capture

Compare only what is on screen

Use Capture screenshot when the change you are checking is in the currently visible region. This produces a screenshot of the viewport rather than the whole page.

Check for changes below the fold

Use Capture a full size screenshot when the page may have changed farther down. A Windows screen-capture tool can instead grab a selected desktop area or the screen, but that is different framing from capturing the browser page. Tom’s Hardware describes Windows capture options, including browser-based approaches, in its Windows screenshot guide.

Inspect the two image files

Open both captures in an image viewer and compare them side by side. If your chosen software supports it, a translucent overlay or pixel-difference view can make changed areas easier to spot. Chrome DevTools’ documented screenshot controls do not establish that Chrome includes an image-diff viewer, and no particular Windows comparison application is recommended here.

#1 Best Overall

Check the Hindi text regions as part of the visual review. If glyphs look different, note what you see; do not assume the cause is a font, fallback, or shaping issue based on the screenshot alone. The cited guidance does not diagnose Hindi rendering differences.

Why matching the capture conditions matters

Viewport width and height influence responsive layout and wrapping, while DPR affects the relationship between CSS pixels and physical pixels. Page state and capture type also affect what appears in each file. Matching these conditions makes the comparison more useful, but it does not guarantee pixel-identical rendering across different machines, Chrome versions, font installations, or Windows display settings.

Troubleshooting inconsistent comparisons

  • The image dimensions differ: Check that viewport width and height, DPR, and capture type match.
  • Text wraps differently: Confirm that the viewport width and page state are the same. Responsive layouts can change when the viewport changes.
  • One capture includes more of the page: Confirm that both captures used either Capture screenshot or Capture a full size screenshot, not one of each.
  • Hindi glyphs appear different: Record the visual difference, but do not diagnose its cause from these capture controls alone. Differences in machine, Chrome version, fonts, or Windows display settings can prevent pixel-perfect matching.
