Compare the two streams over the same dates using estimated ad revenue as the outcome. Then check views, estimated monetized playbacks, ad impressions, watch time, playback-based CPM, and viewer geography to understand the difference. YouTube does not establish a universal Hindi-versus-English ad rate: language alone cannot tell you which stream will earn more.
Choose the right earnings measure
Use estimated ad revenue for an ad-only comparison
In YouTube Analytics, compare each stream’s estimated ad revenue over the same date range. This is the direct measure when the question is how much each stream earned from ads.
Keep CPM and RPM in their proper roles
CPM measures what advertisers pay per 1,000 ad impressions. Playback-based CPM measures advertiser cost per 1,000 video playbacks that included an ad. Neither is the creator’s earnings per 1,000 views. RPM measures creator revenue per 1,000 views after revenue share and can include ads, YouTube Premium, memberships, Super Chat, and Super Stickers. Use RPM for a broader view of monetization, not as a substitute for ad-only revenue. YouTube explains these revenue metrics and ad factors.

1. Match the date windows
Select identical calendar dates for the Hindi and English streams. If audience or content changes substantially by day, compare several matched windows rather than relying on a single period. State the dates in the report.

2. Show totals and normalized results
Report total estimated ad revenue for each stream first. If you also want to compare ad earnings per view, calculate estimated ad revenue divided by views for that same window, and label the denominator clearly—for example, “estimated ad revenue per 1,000 views.” A normalized figure helps compare monetization efficiency, but it does not replace the total when the question is which stream earned more overall.
3. Add delivery measures to explain the result
Views are not the same as monetized playbacks: a view does not necessarily receive an ad. Include the following measures where Analytics provides them:

- Views: the audience scale during the chosen window.
- Estimated monetized playbacks: playbacks in which at least one ad was shown.
- Ad impressions: ads served, which can differ from the number of monetized playbacks.
- Watch time: viewing volume and duration.
- Playback-based CPM: advertiser spending per 1,000 playbacks with an ad, not creator earnings.
A stream may have a higher playback-based CPM but lower total ad revenue if it has fewer views, fewer monetized playbacks, or less watch time. Read the metrics together rather than treating CPM as a payout rate.

Geography, season, ad formats, targeting and ad availability can affect CPM and whether a view receives an ad. A Hindi stream watched mainly in one set of countries and an English stream watched mainly in another are not a clean test of language; they also differ in advertising markets and potentially in viewer mix. Compare the actual audience locations and matched dates before interpreting the revenue gap.

YouTube Analytics audience reports can show top geographies by watch time and top subtitle/CC languages. Subtitle language is not a definitive label for the spoken language of every viewer or stream, and some audience data may be limited. Use these reports as context, not proof that language caused a revenue difference. See YouTube’s audience reporting guidance.
Account for live reporting and monetization settings
Live-only revenue may not be available as a report filter
YouTube’s live metrics documentation says revenue reports are unavailable when filtering for Live alone. If you cannot isolate live-only revenue in Analytics, state whether your figures include Live & on demand playback or otherwise blend formats; do not present blended revenue as live-only. Consult YouTube’s live-stream metrics guidance for the available reporting context.

Confirm eligibility and the applicable module
Watch Page ad and Premium revenue on live streams requires accepting the applicable Watch Page Monetization Module. Turning ads on does not guarantee that an ad will serve. Eligible YouTube Partner Program creators may have other live revenue options, including memberships and Shopping, but keep those separate from ad earnings unless you explicitly intend to compare total monetization. YouTube describes the monetization settings and live creator earning options.

Use a compact comparison table
For each matched date range, present both streams side by side. Include only figures Analytics actually reports, and label any calculation you make.
