To check how a site responds from different countries, send the same HTTP request through a Shellroute exit in each country, then compare the status code, headers, final URL, and response body. Verify the exit IP and country before treating a difference as regional behavior: the result applies to the routed request, not automatically to every app, protocol, or browser workflow.
Run the same HTTP request through each country
Choose a small set of markets that matter to your site, then keep the URL, method, request headers, and client behavior the same while changing only the intended country. Shellroute documents the pattern shellroute run COUNTRY -- command for routing one command. These examples save response headers and bodies separately and print the HTTP status and effective URL:
shellroute run US -- curl -sS -D /tmp/us.headers -o /tmp/us.body -w '%{http_code} %{url_effective}n' https://example.com/
shellroute run DE -- curl -sS -D /tmp/de.headers -o /tmp/de.body -w '%{http_code} %{url_effective}n' https://example.com/
Replace https://example.com/ with the page you want to check and add the same curl options to both commands if the test needs particular headers or a different method. Shellroute’s documentation also shows country, optional city, and IP-type selection; the country code is required. Its proxy-mode documentation says residential is the default there, and lists residential, datacenter, and mix as choices.
Compare the parts of the response that answer your question
Use the saved results to identify what changed rather than relying on a single status code. curl can display response headers for HTTP troubleshooting, and the final URL reveals where redirects ended.
#1 Best Overall
- VERSATILE CABLE TESTING: Cable tester for data (RJ45) terminated cables and patch cords, ensuring comprehensive testing capabilities
- LARGE BACKLIT LCD: Backlit LCD display enables easy reading of pin-to-pin wiremap results, even in low-lit areas
- COMPREHENSIVE FAULT DETECTION: Test for Open, Short, Miswire, Split-Pair faults, Cross-over, and Shield, providing thorough fault detection
- INTUITIVE USER INTERFACE: User-friendly interface with three buttons and simple, easy-to-identify test responses, ensuring a smooth testing experience
- MULTIPLE TONE GENERATOR STYLES: Tone on a single wire, wire pair, or all 8 conductor wires using the multiple style tone generator (solid/warble); requires probe Cat. No. VDV500-123 (sold separately)
- Status code: Check whether a market receives a success response, denial, or another status.
- Headers: Look for meaningful differences in response headers, including signals related to caching or content negotiation.
- Final URL: Check whether the request is redirected to a country-specific page or another destination.
- Body: Compare the returned content for language, currency, availability messages, or other changes relevant to your test.
These are things to inspect, not guaranteed country-based changes: a site may return the same response in every tested market.
Verify the route before interpreting a difference
A request that appears to target one country is useful evidence only if the client actually used the intended exit. Shellroute’s proxy-mode documentation provides a JSON format with exit IP, country, city, and proxy type. Check that information alongside each response, and record the selected country and city, proxy type, verified exit, status, final URL, headers, and body. If the exit is unexpected, fix the route or client configuration and rerun the comparison before attributing the result to geography.

- Multi-Function Network Cable Tester: Supports RJ45 (CAT5, CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6A, CAT7) and RJ11 telephone cables. Quickly detects continuity, short circuits, open wires, miswiring, and cable shielding status, ensuring your LAN or phone lines are correctly wired and ready to use.
- Fast/Slow Mode with LED Indicators: Switch between fast and slow scan speeds to identify wiring issues more precisely. LED lights on both master and remote units show wire order, making it easy to spot errors like open pairs or misaligned pins at a glance.
- Split-Type Design for Long-Distance Testing: Master and remote units can be detached and used separately, allowing you to test both ends of a long cable run, ideal for wall-mounted ports, long runs, or structured cabling. Perfect for home, office, or professional IT setups.
- Compact, Lightweight & Durable: Ergonomically designed with sturdy ABS housing, this pocket-sized tester is ideal for on-the-go network engineers, DIYers, and electricians. It’s your go-to toolkit for cable maintenance, upgrades, or new installations.
- Safe & Easy to Use: Simple one-button operation makes testing quick and hassle-free. LED indicators clearly show wiring status, while the G light instantly identifies shielded (FTP/STP) or unshielded (UTP) cables. Supports safe testing of telephone lines with typical voltages under 48-72V, ideal for both home and professional use.
Know what Shellroute does—and does not—route
Shellroute can run a command through a selected route or start a local proxy server for proxy-aware clients. In proxy mode, a client can use the printed proxy URL or standard proxy environment variables. Shellroute documents HTTP-oriented clients such as curl, Python requests, Node fetch, and Go HTTP clients as using those variables. That scope is useful for an isolated check: unrelated applications and terminals retain their normal connection.

Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Proxy environment variables do not automatically route DNS lookups, SSH, ping, raw TCP sockets, or UDP traffic. They also do not configure every browser-based workflow. For browser automation such as Playwright, configure the browser’s proxy explicitly; a curl comparison does not establish how an interactive checkout or other browser journey behaves.

Choose the right test for the question
- Checking an HTTP page response: Run the same curl request through each selected country and compare its status, headers, final URL, and body.
- Checking a browser feature or user journey: Use a browser configured to use the proxy, keep the browser state and actions consistent, and compare the same flow in each market.
- Checking repeated behavior over time: A one-time command only captures the requests you made. A recurring regional monitoring setup is more appropriate when you need ongoing checks.
Coverage and pricing claims
Shellroute’s product page advertises coverage in 120+ countries and residential proxies from $3/GB and datacenter proxies from $1/GB. These are vendor-advertised figures; the page does not state a year, and the country inventory, availability, and final cost have not been independently verified here. Check the current product page for details before relying on a particular country or rate. Shellroute describes itself as an “Open-source CLI · Pay per use · Residential + datacenter proxies.”
No independent performance or accuracy statistic is established for Shellroute, so the response comparison should be treated as an observation from the selected client, destination, and route—not as a general performance guarantee.
