Clean the band according to its material: wipe the original Gear S3 Frontier’s rubber/silicone band with clean water or a slightly damp, soft cloth, then dry it thoroughly. For the original Gear S3 Classic leather band, wipe first with a soft, lint-free cloth; if needed, slightly dampen the cloth with clean water, then air-dry the band in a ventilated place out of direct sunlight.
Identify your Gear S3 band material
The Gear S3 Frontier originally came with a silicon band, while the Gear S3 Classic came with a leather band, according to Samsung’s 2016 product overview. Replacement bands may use different materials, so check the band itself or its packaging before cleaning it.

Clean the Frontier rubber or silicone band
- Wipe the band with a soft, clean cloth. Samsung’s guidance allows clean water or a slightly damp cloth.
- Dry the strap thoroughly with a clean cloth before wearing it again.
Samsung gives these instructions for rubber straps in its UK Galaxy Watch cleaning guidance and recommends clean water followed by thorough drying in its US watch-cleaning guidance.
Clean the Classic leather band
- Wipe the band gently with a soft, lint-free cloth.
- If a dry wipe is not enough, slightly dampen the cloth with clean, fresh water. Do not soak the band.
- Leave it to dry in a well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight.
These are Samsung UK’s stated steps for leather straps. Samsung’s separate Galaxy Watch3 guidance says that model’s leather band is not waterproof and should not be worn swimming or showering; that is useful context, but it is not a Gear S3-specific instruction.

What not to use, and when to clean
Samsung advises against soap, cleaning agents, abrasives, chemicals, compressed air, ultrasonic cleaning, and external heat sources when cleaning its watches. Its UK guidance also warns against high-pressure water and prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or hot, humid environments. These cautions help avoid damaging the band or leaving residue that may irritate skin.
Clean your wrist and band after exercise or sweating, and make sure both your skin and the watch are dry before wearing it. If irritation persists or worsens, stop wearing the watch and contact a medical professional, as Samsung advises.

For metal and other replacement bands
Samsung’s cited Gear S3-related cleaning guidance does not establish a procedure for metal or other aftermarket bands. Their finishes and construction can differ, so use the care instructions supplied by that band’s maker rather than assuming that water, cleaners, or a method intended for rubber or leather is suitable.
