There is no single best pair of wireless Bluetooth headphones for everyone. The right over-ear pair depends on how it fits, the sound you prefer, whether you need noise cancellation, how long you listen between charges, and which devices you use. Sony WH-1000XM6, Bose QuietComfort Ultra Headphones gen 2, and Sennheiser MOMENTUM 5 Wireless are current models worth comparing, but the available evidence does not establish a consistent head-to-head winner.
Which wireless Bluetooth headphones should you consider?
Current buying guides identify several candidates, but their listings are not a standardized comparison proving that one model outperforms the others. What Hi-Fi? maintains a current over-ear wireless headphone guide, and Tom’s Guide lists current headphone picks; use those as starting points, then verify features on the manufacturer’s page and judge fit and performance against your own needs.
- Sony WH-1000XM6: Sony identifies it as a wireless noise-canceling headphone. It is a candidate to compare if you want an over-ear model with ANC, not a universal recommendation. See Sony’s WH-1000XM6 product page.
- Bose QuietComfort Ultra Headphones gen 2: Tom’s Guide lists this model in its roundup. Confirm the exact model’s features and review evidence before treating it as a match for a particular need. See Tom’s Guide’s headphone roundup.
- Sennheiser MOMENTUM 5 Wireless: Sennheiser’s support material covers this model. Check current manufacturer product information for detailed features, runtime conditions, availability, and price before comparing it directly with alternatives. See Sennheiser’s MOMENTUM 5 Wireless support article.
These are comparison candidates, not rankings based on a single common test. The cited editorial guides do not provide a complete, consistently measured comparison of all three.
How should fit and comfort affect your choice?
For long listening sessions, comfort can matter more than a feature-list advantage. Headband pressure, earcup size, clamping force, heat, glasses, and headphone weight all affect how a pair feels, and no comparable measurements for these models are established here. If possible, try a returnable pair for the kind of session you expect to use it for; a brief store fit may not reveal pressure or heat that develops over time.

When is active noise cancellation worth prioritizing?
Active noise cancellation (ANC) can help when you want to reduce surrounding noise during a commute, a trip, or focused work. Decide whether that benefit matters more to you than fit, sound preference, or price. Also consider whether you need an awareness or transparency mode to hear people and announcements without removing the headphones, and verify that the specific model provides the behavior you want.
How should you compare sound, battery life, and connectivity?
Sound and codec support
Listen for the sound balance you enjoy, and check whether the manufacturer’s app offers equalizer controls if you want to adjust it. Codec labels alone do not determine sound quality. Sony explains that LDAC can transmit more audio data than standard Bluetooth codecs, but both the headphones and source device must support the codec; the label does not guarantee an audible improvement. Sony UK Support explains codec and device compatibility.

- LONG BATTERY LIFE: With up to 50-hour battery life and quick charging, you’ll have enough power for multi-day road trips and long festival weekends.(USB Type-C Cable included)
- HIGH QUALITY SOUND: Great sound quality customizable to your music preference with EQ Custom on the Sony | Headphones Connect App.
- LIGHT & COMFORTABLE: The lightweight build and swivel earcups gently slip on and off, while the adjustable headband, cushion and soft ear pads give you all-day comfort.
- CRYSTAL CLEAR CALLS: A built-in microphone provides you with hands-free calling. No need to even take your phone from your pocket.
- MULTIPOINT CONNECTION: Quickly switch between two devices at once.
Battery runtime
Compare battery figures only when the listening mode and test conditions are clear. Runtime can change with volume and features such as noise canceling, so a manufacturer’s figure with ANC disabled is not directly comparable to one measured with ANC enabled. Sony’s buying guidance describes these sources of variation, but the evidence here does not establish directly comparable runtime figures for the three candidates.
Multipoint and switching between devices
Multipoint can make it easier to switch between two connected devices, such as a computer and a phone. Sony says many of its headphones and earbuds can connect to two Bluetooth devices simultaneously; that general guidance is not confirmation that every Sony model supports every switching behavior. Check the exact model and your devices before relying on multipoint.

- Block the World, Keep the Music: Four built-in mics work together to filter out background noise — whether you're in a packed office, on a crowded commute, or moving through a busy street — so every beat comes through clean and clear. (Not available in AUX-in mode.)
- Two Ways to Hear More: BassUp technology delivers deep, punchy bass and crisp highs in wireless mode — then step it up further by plugging in the included AUX cable to unlock Hi‑Res certified audio for studio-level clarity.

- Two Devices, Zero Hassle: Stay connected to your laptop and phone at the same time. Audio switches automatically to whichever device needs you — so a call never interrupts your flow, and getting back to your playlist is just as easy. Designed for commuters and remote workers who move smoothly between work and personal listening throughout the day.
- Your Sound, Your Rules: The soundcore app puts everything at your fingertips — dials your ideal EQ with presets or build your own, flip between ANC, Normal, and Transparency modes on the fly, or wind down with built-in white noise. One app, total control.
What else should you verify before buying?
- Portability: Check whether the headphones fold or include a carrying case if they will travel in a bag.
- Wired use: If you need to listen without Bluetooth, verify whether the exact model supports a wired connection and whether it can play while its battery is depleted.
- Price and availability: Compare current prices in your market. No exact price or regional availability is established for the models discussed here.
- Compatibility: Confirm that the headphones work with your phone, computer, and any codec or connection features you intend to use.
A practical way to make the decision
- Set your main use: Decide whether commuting, air travel, focused work, or everyday music listening is the priority.
- Choose the trade-offs that matter: Rank fit, ANC, preferred sound, battery needs, multipoint, portability, and price rather than assuming that more features automatically mean a better choice.
- Shortlist current models: Use current editorial guides to identify candidates, then verify each feature on the manufacturer’s current product information.
- Check real-world fit: Try the pair if possible, especially if you wear glasses or expect long sessions. Prefer a seller with a return option if comfort is uncertain.
- Match connectivity to your devices: Confirm multipoint, codec, and wired-use support on both the headphone and the devices you plan to connect.
Sony UK Support recommends matching headphones to daily habits, listening preferences, and devices rather than choosing solely by feature count. Read its headphone buying guidance.
