For Horde Siege, choose Assault for flexible mid-range objective play, Breacher for close-range aggression, Marksman for precision at longer sightlines, or Medic for healing and revives. These are role-fit recommendations, not a ranking of which class is strongest: The Coalition says there is no required squad composition, and it even allows a squad of four Breachers. Versus is different: its players start with the same weapons and equipment, and it does not use Weapon Mods.
Which Horde Siege class fits your playstyle?
Horde Siege currently has four described classes. Their roles come from their loadouts, combat bonuses, Tactical Gear, and progression—not character skins. Use this table to narrow your choice by how you prefer to fight and contribute.
| Class | Preferred engagement | Team contribution | Best fit if you are… |
|---|---|---|---|
| Assault | Mid-range | Flexible combat and objective defense | Adaptable and interested in helping hold a position |
| Breacher | Close range | Frontline pressure | Aggressive and comfortable taking risks to close distance |
| Marksman | Longer sightlines | Precision damage and target marking | Deliberate about target selection and ranged engagements |
| Medic | Mid-range | Healing and revives | Support-oriented and attentive to teammates’ condition |
Assault: flexible mid-range and objective defense
Assault is built around mid-range weapons and flexibility. Its Sonic Disruptor can stun incoming enemy waves, which is particularly useful when defending an objective, while its cover-based damage boost rewards fighting from a protected position. Choose Assault if you want options across changing engagements and like helping keep an objective secure.
Breacher: close-range frontline pressure
Breacher focuses on close-range damage. The Adrenaline Injector refills health and reduces damage, supporting high-risk pushes; the class also has better resistance to status effects and melee damage. It suits players who want to close on enemies and put pressure on the frontline rather than hold back at range.

Marksman: precision at longer sightlines
Marksman emphasizes precision damage and improved critical-hit damage. Its Pulse Drone can tag Locust units for you and your squad. Pick it if you prefer to choose targets carefully, take longer sightlines, and help the team identify enemies.
Medic: recovery and squad support
Medic is a mid-range revive specialist that can still fight effectively. Its Stim Vaporizer heals and revives nearby Gears, including downed soldiers from other squads, and the class regenerates health faster. Choose Medic if you regularly monitor teammate status and want your contribution to include getting others back into the fight.

Do you need a balanced squad?
No. The Coalition says classes can complement one another but there is no right squad setup; its example explicitly permits four Breachers. That means role variety is an option, not a requirement. Start with the role you enjoy, then change classes when a mission or your group’s preferences make another contribution more appealing. These recommendations translate the official class descriptions into playstyle matches; they are not based on comparative win rates, damage testing, or a claim that one class is objectively best.

Horde Siege offers three playlist formats with different expected session lengths and combat rhythms. The published times are estimates, not guarantees.
Rank #3
| Playlist | Official description | Typical published duration | Consider it if you prefer… |
|---|---|---|---|
| Blitz | A shorter mission with one or two objectives | Usually 15–20 minutes | A quick objective run; Assault’s flexibility may suit changing tasks |
| Siege | Standard length, with multiple objectives and more traversal | Usually 20–40 minutes | Moving between objectives; a flexible role or a class matching your preferred engagement distance |
| Horde | A tougher holdout of ten waves in one area | Usually 50–60 minutes | Holding a fixed position; Assault’s defensive tools, a Breacher’s frontline pressure, or Medic’s recovery can each fit differently |
Mission format does not dictate class choice. The fixed-position holdout may make objective defense or recovery especially attractive, while missions with more traversal can reward a role you are comfortable using across changing spaces. Pick according to both the mission’s demands and the kind of combat you enjoy.
What to know about class progression and difficulty
The Coalition’s July 30, 2026 multiplayer deep dive described four launch classes with 30 progression levels each. Completing missions earns Class XP. Progression unlocks items including weapons, equipment, Armor Mods, Tactical Gear Mods, and Weapon Mods, and class level also affects which Horde Siege difficulties are available. The developer recommends taking on higher difficulties at higher class levels, so consider progression and squad readiness alongside personal preference when choosing difficulty.
Rank #4
- Disc only. Original case and manual not included. Will come packaged in a generic case.
- This renewed game has been cleaned, tested, and shows minimal wear.
Weapon customization is shared across classes, so switching roles does not require rebuilding weapon mods from scratch. Tactical Gear is class-specific and has a timed cooldown. The Coalition described additional classes as planned for seasonal updates; class counts, unlocks, and balance can change as the game is updated.
Keep class advice scoped to Horde Siege
These four class identities apply to Horde Siege. Versus uses equal starting weapons and equipment for all players and does not use Weapon Mods, so Horde loadouts are not a guide to choosing a Versus class build. The Coalition describes Versus as centered on skill, teamwork, and decisions involving map control and power weapons. Across Campaign, Horde, and Versus, its broader combat guidance emphasizes reading the space and moving from cover to cover; that shared combat principle does not mean Horde classes are selectable in Campaign.
Best Value
- Listen up, soldier. The world is in ruin. The Locust Horde has risen. It’s Human vs Horde, and here’s your mission: Pick a side, build a powerful deck, and win the war. The fate of the world is in your hands!
- Experience the gritty gunplay of the video game in this official two-player card game. Take command of the COG forces or the Locust horde and seize control of the battlefield, one chapter at a time.
- Strategise your way through each chapter, bolstering your forces with classic characters like Marcus Fenix, General Raam, August “Cole Train” Cole, Dominic Santiago, and Damon Baird.
- Every battle counts. Whatever happens in each chapter will change what comes next, so you’d better be ready to dominate. The deck you build and decisions you make will change the way you play each campaign, making this a game you can reload time and time again.
- Whether you're a hardened vet or a grass-green rookie, get ready to take cover and lay down suppressive fire. Your enemies are trying to take the line, soldier. You’d better shove back hard.
Does “best” mean strongest?
The available official class descriptions establish intended roles, but do not establish a strongest class or publish comparative class win rates. The Coalition said in its October 2026 launch-season update that it would monitor player telemetry and feedback to guide tuning and balance adjustments. Treat role fit as the sound basis for choosing now, and expect balance or content details to evolve with updates.
