Choose your Rune Slayer class by the way you want to fight; treat species as a secondary modifier. For ranged damage, consider Archer or Magician. For close combat, compare Warrior’s durability, Thief’s speed, and Striker’s melee style. Priest is aimed at group healing. Species traits can complement a class, but published tier rankings are subjective and the current species roster is not consistently reported.
Start with your preferred combat role
Pocket Gamer’s guide, updated September 2, 2026, describes the classes by role and ranks them according to its own editorial judgment—not controlled testing or an official developer ranking. Use those descriptions to narrow your options, not as proof that one choice will outperform another for every player.

For ranged combat: Archer or Magician
Choose Archer if burst damage and coverage across PvE and PvP sound more appealing. Choose Magician if you want to attack from range while also buffing yourself and allies. The guide places both in S tier, but that is its assessment rather than a measured comparison.
For melee: durability, speed, or gauntlets
Warrior is the guide’s fit for players who value staying power and crowd control. Thief favors quick attacks, with the trade-off that it is more vulnerable when caught. Striker is another melee option, built around gauntlets, but the guide describes it as less tanky than Warrior.

For support: consider how often you play in a party
Priest is presented as a dedicated healer. Its party value may suit a player who regularly groups with others; the guide considers it weaker for solo play. That role fit matters more than its C-tier label if healing is the kind of play you want.
Choose a species to complement your class
Class establishes the broad combat role, while species traits can add a secondary advantage. Pocket Gamer’s examples include Human’s increased damage against undead, which may complement a character whose role already suits the encounter. Think about the trait you want to add rather than assuming there is one universally best species for a class.

The same guide reports 12 species and orders them as follows. The tier placements are subjective, and the roster count conflicts with community search results, so verify the available choices in the game before committing.

Traits the guide calls out
- Seraphim: +2.5% fire resistance and +1 Luck.
- Human: increased damage against undead; an active ability converts 50 hunger into stamina.
- Elf: reduced cooldowns and an invisibility active.
- Slime: passive HP recovery from collected blobs.
These examples illustrate different kinds of benefits—resistance, damage, resource conversion, cooldowns, invisibility, and recovery. Match a trait to what you want to improve, and check its current in-game description rather than treating a tier label as a substitute for fit.

Check the live menu before making a progression decision
Class and species information is not fully consistent across the available guides and community search results. Pocket Gamer describes six classes, but its tier table also includes Samurai without describing it among those six. Do not treat that listing as confirmation of a seventh base class.
A community classes wiki search result says branches unlock at level 30 and names Blademaster, Knight, Berserker, Sharpshooter, Beast Tamer, Assassin, Ninja, Ashura, Monk, Warlock, Sorcerer, and Cleric. The underlying page could not be accessed, and its labels do not align cleanly with every class name in Pocket Gamer’s guide. Treat those branch names and the level requirement as unverified leads; check the current in-game class and subclass menus before an irreversible choice.

Species reporting is also unsettled: Pocket Gamer lists 12, while community search snippets list 14 and report different rates. Those snippets are not authoritative, and current drop chances, reroll costs, and the complete roster are not established. Verify available species and any cost directly in the character creator or current developer announcements instead of relying on old tables.

A practical decision sequence
- Pick the combat experience you want. Start with ranged damage, durable melee, fast fragile attacks, gauntlet melee, or group healing.
- Compare the closest class fits. For ranged play, weigh Archer’s burst and PvE/PvP flexibility against Magician’s long-range damage and buffs. For melee, compare Warrior, Thief, and Striker by durability, speed, and weapon style.
- Choose a species trait that adds something useful. Consider the trait examples in the live menu and how they complement your intended role; do not select solely by a publisher’s tier.
- Verify current names, unlocks, and costs in-game. Rosters, branches, and progression details may change, and the published lists do not agree on all of them.
