For a large poster, choose a frame by matching the print’s measured size to the frame’s insert dimensions, then check how the finished panel will scale on the wall. Oversized acrylic panels with standoff mounts are one documented option for a frameless presentation; the right choice depends on fit, front-panel finish, available dimensions, and mounting hardware.
What size frame do you need for a large poster?
Measure the poster or print itself before comparing frame listings. A large acrylic panel’s outside dimensions can be bigger than the artwork it is designed to hold, so do not treat panel size and insert size as interchangeable.
For example, Nova Display Systems says its KASP-320 clear-front kits have panels ranging from 36 × 52 inches to 48 × 72 inches. The manufacturer advises choosing an insert proportionally smaller than the panel so there is at least a 2-inch clear border on every side. Confirm the specific listing’s insert dimensions and orientation before ordering.

Oversized acrylic with standoff mounts
An acrylic panel system can give a poster a frameless appearance while holding it against the wall with visible standoff supports. Nova Display Systems describes oversized and panoramic acrylic frames for large photographs, posters, and graphics; its overview lists standard poster formats through 36 × 48 inches and says the acrylic panels are drilled for wall mounting. The cited kits include mounting hardware. Nova Display Systems’ oversized and panoramic frame overview

Conventional border frame
A conventional frame adds a visible border around the print, while a frameless acrylic system keeps the panel and standoffs as the main visible frame elements. Choose based on the look you want and the scale of the wall; the available specifications do not establish that either style is universally better.
Clear or non-glare acrylic: which front panel should you choose?
Clear acrylic keeps the front transparent. Nova Display Systems describes its standard construction as a 1/4-inch clear acrylic back panel paired with a 1/8-inch clear or non-glare front panel. The manufacturer says its non-glare option reduces reflections and helps protect against UV radiation; treat those as claims about its own material, not a universal performance guarantee. When does a custom frame make sense?
Use a custom size when the print’s dimensions or the desired wall coverage do not fit a listed standard panel. Nova Display Systems says its custom acrylic frames are available up to 48 × 96 inches, with clear, non-glare, UV-filter, or satin-frost finishes. These are options offered by that manufacturer, not general limits for all frame makers. Nova Display Systems’ customization options

What should you check before mounting an oversized frame?
- Artwork fit: Match the measured print dimensions to the insert size, leaving the specified border or clearance.
- Orientation and wall scale: Confirm portrait or landscape orientation and consider the finished panel dimensions against the wall area.
- Panel and drilling: Check the panel dimensions and drilled-hole layout for the exact frame system.
- Standoffs and hardware: Verify what the kit includes and that the mounts suit the panel and installation site. Nova Display Systems recommends 1-inch-diameter standoffs for its oversized frames; follow the instructions for the selected system rather than treating this as a universal rule.
- Wall conditions: Check that the planned mounting points and chosen hardware are appropriate for the wall where the frame will hang.
Specifications and hardware vary by listing and custom configuration. Nova Display Systems’ examples are manufacturer information, not independent comparative testing, so confirm current dimensions, finish, included parts, and installation directions on the product page before purchase.
