The best screenless fitness tracker depends on what you want it to do: the Amazfit Helio Strap is a practical band for training without a required subscription, while smart rings such as RingConn Gen 2 and Oura Ring 4 are better suited to discreet sleep and wellness tracking. WHOOP 5.0/MG focuses on recovery insights but requires a paid membership. These six options cover different priorities, so compare fit, workout use, battery life and ongoing costs rather than treating them as interchangeable.

How to choose a screenless fitness tracker

Screenless trackers show their data in a companion app instead of on the device. That can mean fewer on-wrist distractions, but it also means checking a phone to see workout or recovery details. The six products below include wrist or upper-arm bands and finger-worn rings, each with different strengths.

  • For workouts: A band offers more placement options. Rings are less suitable for vigorous exercise because of scratch risk and workout heart-rate limitations.
  • For sleep and recovery: Rings are unobtrusive overnight, while recovery-focused bands provide another option if you prefer wrist or upper-arm wear.
  • For cost: Check whether useful app features require a recurring membership, not just the device’s purchase price.
  • For outdoor routes: A screenless tracker may not include GPS. Tom’s Guide reported that none of the four models in its 2026 comparison had built-in GPS, so route tracking may require carrying a phone (Tom’s Guide).

Battery figures and product details below are claims or review findings attributed to the cited sources, not independent measurements. Prices and availability can vary by region and change over time.

Six screenless fitness trackers to consider

1. Amazfit Helio Strap: a flexible band without a required subscription

The Helio Strap is a good fit if you want a screenless band for general activity and training without a required subscription. Amazfit’s US product page lists continuous heart-rate tracking, live heart-rate broadcast, wrist or upper-arm wear and up to 10 days of battery life. The page showed a listed price of $99.99 and a “Coming Soon” availability status when accessed in 2026 (Amazfit).

Wareable’s 2026 roundup also describes the strap as usable on the wrist or upper arm and reports a $99 review-context price, a 10-day battery figure and a weight of approximately 20 g. Its review found exercise heart-rate performance improved with upper-arm placement, but noted sensitive automatic workout recognition and a cluttered app (Wareable). Treat the listed US price and availability as time-sensitive rather than assuming they apply everywhere.

2. WHOOP 5.0/MG: recovery and training insights with membership costs

WHOOP is aimed at people who want detailed recovery and training data rather than a simple step counter. Wareable describes tracking for heart rate, HRV, respiratory rate, oxygen, temperature, stress, sleep, recovery and strain. The membership tier determines the device and features; the MG variant adds ECG and blood-pressure estimates in the account described by the review. Wareable also flags inconsistent workout heart-rate readings and notes that 5.0/MG bands do not fit 4.0 hardware (Wareable).

Those are review-context figures for the plans in that comparison, not guaranteed current prices in every market. Factor the recurring fee into the cost before choosing it.

RingConn Gen 2 is a smart-ring option for people who want passive sleep and wellness tracking without a required subscription. Wareable describes metrics including sleep, heart rate, HRV, oxygen and temperature, and reports up to 12 days of battery life (Wareable).

The roundup also discusses a breathing-pattern feature that may flag overnight irregularities. It is not a medical device, and that feature should not be treated as a sleep-apnea diagnosis. A ring can be convenient overnight, but it is not the strongest choice if your priority is workout heart-rate monitoring.

4. Ultrahuman Ring Air: subscription-free sleep and recovery tracking

Ultrahuman Ring Air focuses on sleep, recovery, circadian rhythm and wellness without a required subscription, according to Wareable’s 2026 roundup. The review says it tracks sleep, HRV, resting heart rate, skin temperature and activity, with battery life of roughly five days (Wareable).

  • 【20–30 Day Battery, 25g Lightweight & IP68】Powered by a 180mAh battery, this screenless fitness tracker is designed for extended everyday use and recharges in about 2 hours with the magnetic charger. At only 25g, the lightweight smart bracelet is designed for comfortable workouts, daily wear and overnight sleep tracking, while IP68 water resistance helps handle sweat, rain and hand washing
  • 【Private Alerts, Women's Health & Everyday Smart Features】Stay connected without putting another display on your wrist. This smart bracelet for men and women provides customizable vibration alerts for calls, messages and supported app notifications, plus women's health tracking, sedentary reminders, alarms, remote camera control, do-not-disturb mode and device finding. The 22mm quick-release design also lets you replace the wrist strap when you want a different fit or style

As with other rings, its finger-worn design is less suited to active workouts: exercise can scratch the ring, and ring-based workout heart-rate tracking has limitations. Consider it if discreet overnight data matters more than a dedicated training band.

5. Oura Ring 4: broader sleep and wellness context

Oura Ring 4 is aimed at people who value longitudinal sleep and wellness insights. Wareable praises the breadth of its sleep and wellness information, while noting that the ring can feel bulkier than some alternatives and is less suitable for workouts. The review reports up to eight days of battery life and identifies membership as an additional cost (Wareable).

In the US context of Tom’s Guide’s August 21, 2026 comparison, Oura Ring 5 was listed at a $399 starting price, with membership at $5.99 per month or $72 per year (Tom’s Guide). Those figures refer specifically to the model and terms in that comparison; they should not be applied to Ring 4 or other regions. Confirm the exact generation and membership terms before buying.

6. Hume Band 2.0: a wellness-oriented band

Hume Band 2.0 may suit someone interested in wellness trends such as heart rate, HRV, oxygen and blood-pressure trend analysis. Wareable reports a claimed battery life of up to 14 days, but also found step tracking inaccurate in its testing (Wareable).

That makes it better considered a wellness companion than a performance-focused step tracker. Its blood-pressure trend analysis is not evidence of clinical blood-pressure measurement.

For the Helio Strap, RingConn, Ultrahuman, Oura and Hume, the battery figures in this table are from Wareable’s 2026 roundup unless identified as Amazfit’s official US listing. “Up to” figures are not a guarantee of your day-to-day battery life.

What to check before you buy

  • Confirm the exact model: Similar product names can refer to different generations, prices or membership terms. The Oura price figures above are for Ring 5, while the featured review is for Ring 4.
  • Check availability in your market: Amazfit’s US listing showed “Coming Soon” when accessed in 2026; a listed price does not establish that the tracker is currently available to buy.
  • Price the full ownership period: WHOOP requires membership, and Wareable describes Oura as membership-dependent. Compare the subscription cost over the time you expect to use the tracker with the price of a device that has no required membership.
  • Check placement and accessories: Helio Strap supports wrist or upper-arm wear, but confirm that any optional strap is compatible with the exact model before ordering.
  • Keep health estimates in context: Sleep, recovery, stress, readiness, oxygen and trend scores are app or device estimates. They are not a diagnosis or a substitute for medical advice.
