Choose a cloud playout service designed to loop prerecorded videos continuously to YouTube Live—not just a general-purpose video encoder. Compare how it handles interruptions and YouTube’s archive limit, whether you can edit playlists while live, supported quality, monitoring, concurrent streams, and the full cost. For a simpler YouTube-only option, StreamNeo runs uploaded videos from the cloud at any quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot, with a free first day.
Start with the right kind of service
A continuous prerecorded stream needs a service that can play an ordered or shuffled playlist from its own servers and send the result to YouTube. That is different from scheduling one prerecorded broadcast or using an encoder that expects a computer to stay online. YouTube’s verified encoder directory lists Gyre for 24/7 prerecorded streaming and Upstream for cloud-based live video. YouTube Help notes: “None of these products are made by YouTube.” These are directory and vendor descriptions, not independent reliability tests. YouTube’s verified encoder directory
For a YouTube-only creator who wants uploaded videos to loop without maintaining a local machine, StreamNeo is the first option to consider: it runs from the cloud, supports any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and offers a free first day.

| Option | Best fit | What is established | What to confirm |
|---|---|---|---|
| StreamNeo | A creator who wants a YouTube-only, always-on loop without a local computer. | StreamNeo says it plays uploaded videos from the cloud, with 24/7 looping and playlists, automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream, and any quality up to 4K 60fps as uploaded at one flat price per slot. A slot includes 10 GB of pooled storage per active slot. | Check that the desired upload fits the available pooled storage and confirm current plan details at checkout. |
| Gyre | A creator seeking a dedicated cloud service for prerecorded 24/7 YouTube streams. | YouTube’s verified encoder listing describes this use. Gyre’s vendor update says it added API automation and reported paid plans of USD 49–169/month as of September 2026. These are vendor claims; verify current prices and terms. | Concurrent loops, playlist changes during playback, restart behavior near YouTube’s 12-hour archive threshold, included resolution/frame rate, and support terms. |
| Upstream | A creator who wants cloud playlist playback and may also want scheduling or multistreaming. | The vendor describes ordered or shuffled playlists played from its servers, scheduled prerecorded broadcasts, and up to 10 destinations. Its page showed 24 hours per month free and USD 30/month for one unlimited stream when retrieved in 2026; terms can change. | Current plan limits, exact resolution/4K terms, retry and YouTube restart behavior, and whether the free allowance suits a pilot. |
| Google Cloud Live Stream API | A developer or media team building a managed transcoding pipeline. | Google documents RTMP/SRT inputs, HLS/DASH outputs, Cloud Storage integration, backup input, VOD, encryption, and slates. Billing depends on active time and configured resolution/codec; distribution can add charges. The reviewed documentation does not describe a ready-made prerecorded playlist loop to YouTube. | Engineering and operations effort, channel/output configuration, regional availability, storage and egress, distribution charges, and whether a separate playout source is needed. |
| AWS Elemental MediaLive | Broadcast-oriented teams with a custom pipeline and technical operations capacity. | YouTube lists MediaLive as a verified broadcast-grade encoder supporting up to 4Kp60 HEVC. AWS’s deployment guide shows encoding, packaging, and distribution costs all contribute. | Whether MediaLive is the right component for a prerecorded loop, supporting services, region, delivery costs, setup effort, and current rates. |
| Local encoder software | A technical creator able to keep a computer and internet connection available. | YouTube supports software encoders and its setup flow uses an encoder URL and stream key. The reviewed sources do not provide directly comparable local power, network, or maintenance costs. | Who monitors the machine and reconnects the stream, upload stability, power use, and whether unattended operation is acceptable. |
Evaluate continuity, not just the word “24/7”
A service may support an always-on loop, a scheduled prerecorded event, or both. Those are not interchangeable. Ask what viewers see if the encoder connection drops, whether the service reconnects automatically, and whether a restart creates a new live watch page. Confirm whether playlist changes take effect during playback or only after a restart. If overlays or scheduled transitions matter, verify those separately rather than assuming they are included.

YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not assume one live event can run indefinitely or that a vendor’s continuous-play description settles how YouTube’s archive and restart behavior will work. Ask the provider how it handles the threshold, interruptions, and new live sessions. Run a private or unlisted pilot and monitor the Live Control Room before relying on the setup.
Check YouTube ingest settings and test the actual stream
YouTube’s encoder guidance lists RTMP/RTMPS ingest; H.264, H.265/HEVC, or AV1 video; AAC or MP3 audio; frame rates up to 60 fps; and constant bitrate (CBR). YouTube recommends a two-second keyframe interval and says not to exceed four seconds. The suitable bitrate depends on resolution, frame rate, and codec, so use the current YouTube bitrate table for the chosen combination rather than applying one bitrate to every stream. - Enable live streaming early. YouTube says first-time live streaming enablement can take up to 24 hours.
- Connect the service. In YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, create or schedule a stream and use the YouTube stream URL and stream key in the service’s connection settings. Treat the key as a password; do not share it publicly.
- Choose ingest and encoding settings. Prefer RTMPS where the service offers it. Match the service’s output format to YouTube’s supported codecs, use CBR, and set a two-second keyframe interval where configurable. Select a bitrate from YouTube’s current guidance for your resolution, frame rate, and codec.
- Rehearse with representative content. YouTube recommends testing with audio and movement similar to the intended stream. Check the Live Control Room preview, sound, motion, and stream-health messages before making the broadcast public.
- Monitor the first run. Use YouTube’s stream health indicators and the service’s own status or recovery controls. Confirm that the live page, archive, and any restart behave as you expect.
Price the whole setup
Compare the total cost for the intended number of channels and hours, not a single headline rate. A dedicated creator subscription may bundle playout, while a cloud API can charge separately for inputs, outputs, configured resolution or codec, storage, and distribution. A per-stream subscription and an infrastructure input rate alone are not comparable.

Check rights and channel eligibility before looping
Use only video and audio you have the rights to stream. A service’s playback or ad controls do not grant content rights, make a channel eligible for monetization, or guarantee that a rebroadcast qualifies under YouTube’s policies. YouTube’s setup guidance says live-stream monetization is available to channels in the YouTube Partner Program; eligibility and policy compliance still apply. Review current YouTube rules and check that your planned use is permitted before scheduling. The copyright safety checklist can help organize that review.
Troubleshoot common selection and setup problems
- The stream does not appear in YouTube. Confirm that live streaming is enabled, the correct stream URL and key were entered, and the key belongs to the intended scheduled event. Recheck the preview in Live Control Room.
- YouTube reports poor stream health. Check the outgoing connection and encoder settings, particularly CBR, codec compatibility, and the bitrate for the selected resolution and frame rate. Test again with representative audio and motion.
- The broadcast stops or archives unexpectedly. Verify whether the service restarted its encoder and how it handles YouTube’s under-12-hour archive behavior. Ask whether a restart uses the same watch page or creates a new live event.
- A playlist edit does not show up. Check whether the chosen service supports editing during playback or requires a restart; this behavior is not established uniformly across the options above.
- The bill is higher than expected on a custom cloud pipeline. Add every configured input and output, storage, and distribution component. Do not estimate from the input rate alone.
Or let it run in the cloud
With StreamNeo, upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. The cloud keeps the loop running, so nothing has to stay on at home. Your video streams as uploaded at any quality up to 4K 60fps for one price per slot, and StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly: $9.99 per month. Learn more at StreamNeo, or start your free first day.
