Check village coverage on the official Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) website, using its household tap-water supply dashboard. Select your State/UT, district, and village, then note the household connection figures and the dashboard’s “as on” date. The figures show reported connection progress—not whether water is flowing reliably or is safe to drink.
Where can I check village-wise Jal Jeevan Mission progress?
Use JJM’s public household tap-water dashboard rather than inferring coverage from a neighbour’s connection or a national progress headline. The Department of Drinking Water & Sanitation, Ministry of Jal Shakti, says in its Jal Jeevan Mission Booklet that the public dashboard reports rural household and public-institution tap-water progress by State/UT, district, and village.
Start at the JJM website and open the household tap-water supply dashboard from its available dashboard links. The site’s controls may change, so follow the current page rather than relying on a fixed button label.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsHow do I find my village and read its connection figures?
- Open the JJM household tap-water supply dashboard from the official website.
- Choose your State/UT and district, then locate your village in the village-level view or available controls.
- Record the displayed number of rural households and households with tap connections. If the dashboard shows remaining households or other totals, note those too.
- Write down the dashboard’s “as on” date with the figures. Coverage changes over time, and a number without its reporting date can be misleading.
Use the precise village listing shown on the dashboard; similar village names can occur in the same district. The public-source description confirms village-level reporting, but does not guarantee that every field, a history view, or alerts will be available on every dashboard page.

What does “covered” mean—and what does the dashboard not prove?
On this dashboard, coverage is reported tap-connection progress. It is not by itself confirmation that each listed household currently receives water, or that supply is adequate, regular, under sufficient pressure, or safe in quality. JJM states its objective as providing Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs) and separately includes monitoring connection functionality among the mission’s objectives; a connection record and a working service are related but distinct facts. See the JJM mission overview.
For broader functionality context, JJM’s Functionality Assessment Index provides 2024 national and state/district reports and a state/district selection interface. These reports can inform a wider view of functionality, but they do not replace the live village-level dashboard or establish the current service status of a particular household.

What should I do if the village figure looks wrong?
Ask the Gram Panchayat or its water and sanitation subcommittee, commonly called the Paani Samiti or Village Water and Sanitation Committee (VWSC), to check the local record. JJM assigns Gram Panchayats and their subcommittees roles in planning, implementing, managing, operating, and maintaining in-village water-supply infrastructure, as described in its infrastructure and mission information.
- Give the village name and the dashboard figure you saw.
- Include the dashboard’s “as on” date so the local body can identify which reported snapshot you mean.
- Ask about the household connection entry separately from whether water service is functioning.
JJM’s website also links to services including the Management Information System (IMIS), Water Quality Management Information System (WQMIS), and Field User App. A 2021-era JJM publication described its mobile app as offering navigation to the dashboard, WQMIS, and IMIS, along with real-time progress and geo-tagging features; check the current app listing before relying on those app capabilities.
