Check YouTube Studio → Content → Live for the ended broadcast. If it appears, open its details and review Visibility: an archive can exist without being publicly viewable. If the stream ran for more than 12 hours, YouTube warns it may not have captured it at all, so a single uninterrupted 24/7 broadcast is not guaranteed to produce a complete replay.
Find the broadcast in YouTube Studio
- Sign in to the YouTube Studio account for the channel that streamed.
- Select Content from the left menu, then open the Live tab.
- Look for the broadcast by its title and date. YouTube’s Live listing includes previous, current, and upcoming streams. YouTube Help: Archive live streams and YouTube Help: Manage live streams.
The Live tab is the direct check for whether Studio lists an archive. A channel’s public page alone is not enough to establish that a replay is missing: an archive may be unlisted or private.
If the archive is listed, check its visibility
- Open the broadcast’s details from the Live list.
- Review the Visibility setting to see whether the archive is public, unlisted, or private.
- If you want to change who can view it, adjust the privacy setting and save. YouTube says an archive can also be made private or deleted from the content page. See YouTube’s archive guidance.
Archive existence and public availability are separate questions: first confirm the item is in Studio, then check its visibility.

Check how long the stream ran
YouTube Help says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, but a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. The 12-hour threshold means a day-long continuous broadcast should not be treated as one guaranteed, complete replay. YouTube’s guidance does not establish whether a particular missing archive can be recovered or whether a processing delay applies to that broadcast. YouTube Help: Archive live streams.

Keep a separate recording for future broadcasts
YouTube recommends keeping a local archive as a backup. If preserving the full program matters, make a separate recording rather than relying only on the YouTube replay. The cited guidance does not prescribe a particular device, software, or storage capacity.
Made-for-kids settings do not determine whether a replay exists
Creators must set an audience designation for videos and livestreams, and YouTube provides a workflow to review or edit an archived livestream’s audience setting under Content → Live. YouTube also cautions creators not to rely only on automated audience detection. YouTube Help: Set your channel or video’s audience.
When a livestream is marked made for kids, features such as live chat and comments are unavailable. Their absence does not show whether the stream was archived; check the broadcast listing and details in Studio instead. YouTube’s audience-setting guidance.
DVR is different from the replay archive
DVR lets viewers pause or rewind while a livestream is happening. YouTube says rewind capability may be limited or unavailable on very long streams. Disabling DVR does not itself mean there will be no replay: YouTube says viewers can still see a recording of the entire stream once available.
