A used PS5 Pro is not listed as either a qualification or a disqualification for Sony’s Japan purchase lottery. Sony’s published rules check the applicant and the Sony account used to apply—not whether the console is new or used. To qualify, that account must meet Sony’s Japan registration, My Sony ID and signed-in PS4/PS5 play-time requirements, and the applicant must reside in Japan.
What Sony checks for lottery eligibility
Sony’s current PlayStation 5 Pro purchase-application page bases eligibility on the account and applicant. It does not state that the applicant must own a PS5 Pro, that a console must be new, or that a console serial number is checked.

- Japan-registered Sony account: The account used to apply must be registered in Japan and used for PlayStation online services.
- My Sony ID linkage: The applying account’s sign-in ID must be unified with a My Sony ID.
- Qualifying play time: The same account must have at least 60 combined hours of PS5 and/or PS4 game play while signed in, from September 27, 2024 through September 27, 2026 at 23:59.
- Japanese residence: The applicant must live in Japan and agree to the application terms.
Sony checks qualifications after applications close. If eligible applications outnumber the planned stock, Sony holds a lottery. See Sony’s official PS5 Pro purchase-application page for the campaign terms.

- Sign in to the Sony account you plan to use. Confirm it is registered in Japan and is the account used for PlayStation online services. The qualifying play time must belong to this account; time played under another account does not meet the stated account-based rule.
- Check My Sony ID unification. Sony says My Sony IDs first registered on or after January 19, 2022 are already unified. If yours was registered earlier, or you do not have a My Sony ID, follow the unification guidance linked from the campaign page. Sony says a successful sign-in check indicates whether unification is complete.
- Verify the play-time window and total. The account must have accumulated 60 or more combined hours on PS5 and/or PS4 between September 27, 2024 and September 27, 2026 at 23:59, while signed in. The requirement is for game play, not console ownership.
- Check residence, contact details and terms. You must reside in Japan, agree to the terms, and have access to the email address registered to the applying account. Sony recommends allowing mail from
@email.playstation.comand warns that carrier and iCloud addresses may not reliably receive messages. - Apply by the stated deadline. The current application deadline is October 7, 2026 at 23:59. Sony expects to send results from around October 26. If selected, you must buy through the dedicated online Sony Store page using the same Sony account by November 2, 2026 at 11:59. Sony says purchases are not available at its physical shops, and delivery is within Japan.
Current Japan campaign details
The campaign page lists the PlayStation 5 Pro model CFI-7100B01 with a 2 TB SSD at ¥137,980, including tax. These are the terms and listed price for this campaign in Japan as checked October 4, 2026; they may change, so check Sony’s page before applying.

- One unit per Sony account; the application is not for resale, and a selection cannot be transferred.
- Listed payment methods for a selected applicant are credit card, Rakuten Pay, PayPay and Merpay.
- Sony says false registration, missing the payment deadline, applying with resale intent, or forwarding or changing the delivery address after ordering can invalidate an application or order.
Used-console condition is a separate concern
Although used status is not specified as a lottery eligibility test, it still matters when deciding whether to buy a used console. PlayStation’s general buying guide says third-party-used PlayStation products may not be covered by warranty. It recommends checking the seller’s reputation and the item’s operation, ports, buttons and connectivity before purchase.
